My feet ache, too many steps and not enough rest. Due to the fact I don't have a car and Blake leaving early to go to work, I'm left walking back and forth until my savings are big enough for a decent car. Logan and I were supposed to share the car our parents bought, but all that's left is a pile of metal and the memories of what was once before.
Before racing out of home, owning a car wasn't a demand, now it feels like a necessity. I'm tired before I get to work and exhausted before I have the chance to get home. Laying on someone's lawn for a nap doesn't sound like the crazies idea in my mind right now. Between cleaning up after Blake and looking after London, I'm beyond exhausted.
I walk down the side of the River's house and towards their backdoor. I see Angela holding London, which prompts me to open the door and step inside without knocking. Angela is standing in front of the television bobbing back and forth to sooth London.
"Hey," I call out.
"How was work, Ava?" she asks.
"Tiring." I yawn. "How has London been?"
"I've just fed and burped her, so she should be ready for a nap soon," explains Angela. "I've also read her a story."
"Thank you, Angela." She cuddles London to her chest and kisses her cheek before handing her over to me. I cradle her in my arms as I smile and walk towards the backdoor.
"Let me know if you need anything, I'm not working until five," she says.
I grab London's arm and wave at Angela as I say, "Goodbye grandma, thank you for looking after me." Angela smiles and opens the backdoor for me.
"Seriously, if you need anything, anything at all!"
"Thank you, Angela, you're amazing and I have no idea how to thank you."
She loudly scoffs, a bright smile on her face, "It's me who doesn't know how to thank you." With a few last parting words, I walk across the grass and to our little house. I balance London against my chest as I grab the house key from my bag. I unlock the door and slip inside. Instead of stopping, I race upstairs and settle London on the bed as I grab out my phone.
Just as I've put my bag down, I get an incoming call from Tori. I quickly accept her Face Time request and switch the screen so that she can see London laying on the bed.
"Wave hello to mummy," I say.
London looks at the phone curiously as she giggles her legs up and down.
"How's my baby girl doing?" I hear Tori ask.
"Very good! Angela just gave her a bottle, so she should be getting sleepy soon," I explain. "And, she also read her a story."
"Well, aren't you spoilt?" Laughs Tori.
"You certainly are, London." I press my hand against her chest and gently wiggle her back and forth. A small grin appears on her face which makes her appear happy.
