The water dribbled out of the trunk like a bathtub overflowing. Glass lay around the car and parts of metal swayed, hanging on by a thread. The lights flickered and flashed like they were indicating, or asking for help. The tyres still spun slowly and the underneath of the car was facing the sky. The car looked flat, the doors on either side were compressed down and the windows seemed to have disappeared.
Blood dripped down from the large gash above Ross's eye and onto a shard of glass below him. Soon the entire fragment was bold red, it looked as if it had never been transparent. His arms hung at his side lifelessly. He groaned and managed to open his eyes, the light blinding him momentarily and he lifted a hand to his head.
He hissed at the feel of his fingertips touching his wound. His body burned like fire was eating his skin. His legs were hidden by metal and the seatbelt was digging into his torso. His shoulder cracked and burned and the pain was indescribable, he gasped and looked down fearfully. His bone was out of place, a large bump took over most of his shoulder. He tried moving it but groaned, breathing heavily as he tried to push the pain aside.
"Courtney." He mumbled, closing his eyes when he fumbled for the seatbelt. "Courtney." He said again desperately. He glanced over at her and wished he hadn't. The car door was bent into her, blood dripped from her side and covered the bottom of the car. She had a large shard of glass impaled into her side, below the ribs. Her black hair covered her face like a waterfall, contrasting with her pale skin. She looked dead.
Ross's eyes widened and he slammed down on the button with his fingers, he fell to the sharp roof of the car turning his body to the side as he fell. He landed on his shoulder and let out a yell. It burned and throbbed, the muscles around the bone cried out in pain. A rush of nerves ran up his arm and he bit his lip to muffle his yells. He turned slowly over onto his back and looked up at the car.
His lungs felt crushed and he struggled to breathe. He lifted his top with his good arm and struggled to peel it off his skin, it was soaked with blood and sweat. A bone was raised out of place and dug into the skin of his chest, he had broken a rib, maybe two. A few cuts were dotted across his body but none of them were really bad. None compared to the pain in his shoulder. He made small circles with his feet and raised his knees a little. They were okay, he sighed in relief. His legs were stiff, bruised and cut but he'd live.
Courtney. He looked over to her. She was still slumped over and blood still ran along the shard of glass in her side. There was a growing pool of red below her and a small one pooling to the side of it, blood dripped from her head and cheek too. Her hair was matted, clumped together. The rose liquid stained her fair skin that was rapidly losing colour.
Ross closed his eyes and flipped quickly onto his left side, groaning when the bone in his shoulder cracked. He ignored the burn and wiped his forehead in an attempt to get rid of the blood that blurred his vision. It didn't work, it kept coming. He dragged his body towards her, his feet digging into the roof of the car - that was now acting as a floor - allowed him to push himself along a little easier. He felt as if someone was shoving a burning metal rod into his shoulder, repeatedly. But he didn't care, the sight of Courtney hunched over, the seatbelt being the only thing holding her up, terrified him to the ends of the earth.
He reached up and moved the sheet of dripping red hair, her face had multiple cuts but the one along her cheek stood out the most. He reached up and lifted her chin. "Courtney." He pleaded but she made no move. He dropped his hand and her head dropped again. He moved his hand to the glass in her side and it wavered shakily around it, he wanted to pull it out but he knew it may do more damage than good.
"Ross! Courtney! You okay?" Drew's voice broke through the metal and alerted Ross. His attention moved from Courtney and he looked to the side. Drew's worried face looked through a small gap in the metal that Ross hadn't noticed before. He sighed in relief and moved his body around to see Drew more clearly.
