DAMMIT! ONTO THE CHAPTER!
-------------------------
"(Y/N)!" Natsu yelled, "Where are ya going?"
You shrugged, "I can't stay here, Fairy Tail isn't the guild I belong to...it's Sabertooth. Also, I'm pretty sure you'll do fine without me, so...goodbye?"
The salmon-haired Dragon Slayer glanced at you, "Yeah, but...what about Zeref? What are we going to do about him?"
"I don't know," you admitted, "let's just think of what to do when the time comes, I guess. This is the first time I've discovered I'm actually a demon and I actually have a long-lost brother-"
"Oh yeah!" Natsu chuckled, "I forgot! If what Zeref says is true, then that makes us brother and sister, right? But...if we are, then why isn't your last name 'Dragneel'?"
"Truth be told, I actually have no proof that my last name is (L/N)," you said, "I only knew the name (Y/N), so there is be a chance the last name (L/N) was just randomly given to me."
"Let's just solve this issue later," Natsu suggested, "you have somewhere you need to be, right? You go, I'll stay here."
You nodded before you ran off somewhere, following nothing but pure instinct and intuition. You had no way of telling you were heading in the right direction, so you just ran.
After a while, you noticed your surroundings changing. It seemed that you had entered a forest, and no matter what direction you ran, the forest only seemed to grow darker and darker, to the point where almost nothing was visible.
Now that you weren't able to see anything, your other senses automatically heightened as a result. You could hear the sound of leaves crunching under your shoe as you ran, before you gradually slowed to a walk. The forest was a deathly quiet, no birds, nothing.
With each step you took, you got even more and more uneasy. You knew you were going to, if not, already completely lost. You already attempted turning back three or four times, but you only saw the same inky blackness that shrouded this damnable forest.
"Eh~?" a voice hummed, and it seemed to echo throughout the inky blackness, "Have you lost your edge, snowflake? It's been this long and you still haven't suspected a thing? How sad~!"
You came to a halt, eyebrows furrowing, "What in the--only one person have ever called me that...M-Magnum? I thought you were-"
A dry laugh echoed through the forest, "Took you long enough, snowflake! I wonder...if I hadn't come in, would you spend an eternity wandering this forest that I made just for you?"
"You're supposed to be de-"
"Dead~?" Magnum hummed, as if unfamiliar with the word, "Snowflake, if you know me, then you've got to know that I don't die easy. Say, snowflake, remember the last mission we went on together?"
Memories of that dreaded mission you tried so hard to forget resurfaced, the flurry of green, the treasure the both of you sought after, the blood-curdling screams, the crimson sprayed everywhere, the withering plants...that damnable mission.
"The both of us were asked to collect the Seed of the Field, right? 'If ever the Seed of the Field is planted, the area will be blessed with fertility for many centuries' that's what he told us right?" Magnum questioned, "He also told us that the Seed of the Field was guarded by a huge monster."
You continued, recollecting those dreadful moments, "That's right...the Guardian of the Field. The both of us accepted the mission without a second thought, and when we finally encountered that blasted guardian, we soon learned it was one of the toughest battles we would ever face."
"It all happened so fast, dammit," you cursed, "your magic wasn't able to work fast enough to block the incoming beast, and so, it--it mauled you. I thought you died...so, I left the mission without completing it."
You heard the sound of vines moving closer and closer towards you, you quickly formed a circle of fire around you, burning the vines that slowly moved towards you.
"That's the thing, snowflake!" Magnum exclaimed, "You just ran away! You left without ever getting the Seed of the Field, you left me for dead!"
"M-Magnum...?"
Another loud laugh echoed through the foliage, the dim light provided by your circle of fire unable to illuminate much, you still weren't able to see Magnum anywhere.
"Dammit," you mumbled, "if I can't see a thing, then this'll just become harder. This is a forest, I can burn it down, why the hell didn't I think of that in the beginning?!"
You used your magic to make the circle of fire spread, everything started burning down, rather quickly. When everything was reduced to ashes, you were finally able to see again, but the sight before you caused your eyes to widen.
The terrain was the exact same one as the field in the last mission you and Magnum went on, the one revolving around the Seed of the Field and its blasted guardian. Magnum himself was in the center of the field, a dangerous smirk on his face.
"Like what I did, snowflake?" Magnum questioned, "I made it so that it looks exactly the same as the field on that mission all those years ago! Do you like it!"
"...why are you doing this, Magnum?" you asked.
"Why?" he raised an eyebrow, "Well, because I'd like to return the favor, that's why! I want you to know how it feels to be mauled by the Guardian of the Field and then be abandoned! It's only fair, snowflake!"
"Magnum," you murmured, "look, if it's a fight you want, you've gotten unlucky with your opponent. Your magic revolves around trapping your opponent in foliage before you finish them off, you know full well I can easily burn the vines you'll try and trap me with."
He grinned, "Oh? I've gotten unlucky with my opponent? You've got that wrong, snowflake! If anything, you're the ones who's gotten unlucky!"
"And why's that, Bhelzirinage?"
"Because..."
You heard the loud, shrill cry that belonged to the all-too familiar beast. Behind Magnum was the large, green-feathered behemoth that supposedly killed your old friend all those years ago on that blasted mission.
"...I have the Guardian of the Field on my side."
