Finding Faith Hepperson was harder than I thought. For one, I didn't know where she lived. For two I didn't know what high school she went to. And for three, I had no idea what she looked like.
But I have been around for a few thousand years and in those years I have made some enemies. But more importantly, I've made some friends. So, I called in a few favors and voilà.
   Faith Hepperson:
—17 years old
—dark brown hair, green eyes
—5' 3
junior at Wayward Point High
—part-time job at Chef Mistro's Pub and
                                                             Eatery
—lives with parents at 4423 Midpoint Dr. Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
—No history of violence, mental instabilities, alcohol, drugs, or trouble with the law

I didn't have a whole lot on her. Just the basics. And out of all of those basics, it was the last point that bothered me. "No history of violence, mental instabilities, alcohol, drugs, or trouble with the law."
I never killed anyone for no reason before. Well, okay, so maybe that's not exactly true. But I never had a request where I killed someone for no reason before.
Granted, most of my requests to kill people come from Death, and...well, Satan's just an entirely different ball game. But still, it's unusual for him to ask me to kill someone for no particular reason. Because as much as he'd like to see that, it's riding on an entirely too thin line of breaking the rules. The rules that God ultimately put into place. The rules that protect the humans until the final battle.
And, if you break those rules...well it's bad. So bad that I don't know exactly how bad it is. I just know that it's mega bad. And it's something so bad that Satan has, for the most part, steered far enough away from that line do that he doesn't accidentally cross it. So here's the real question.
Why would he risk crossing that line now? And all to kill a seemingly unimportant girl? Well, I guess that's just the thing. She can't be as unimportant as she seems.
Time to pay this fascinatingly important girl a visit.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

There's nothing special about her.

That was the first thought that ran through my head when I caught sight of her coming out of her house that morning. And I know that that judgement may seem a little snappy and rude, but I've been "around the block" a few times as they say and that gives me the authority to make judgements about people. And I say the word judgments because they're not totally facts, (I have been known to misjudge a few people), but I don't use the word opinions because my observations are stronger than that. They are rarely proved to be wrong.

And as I watch Faith, there seems to be nothing particularly special about her. At least not in an other-worldly type fashion.
I mean she is wearing hot pink shorts with a red t-shirt, which even I know is a big fashion no-no. And she is wearing two kinds of different shoes, (both left feet by the way). I guess that qualifies her as some kind of special. But she's definitely doesn't qualify as the  Satan-and-Death-want-to-kill-me kind of special.
Furthermore, she doesn't have an extra-special dark presence to her to warrant attention from Satan. She doesn't even have a super special angelic presence to her. She just seems like an ordinary every day human.
But she can't be ordinary. She just can't be. What are you hiding Faith?
