New Beginnings (ErenxReader)

Levi sat by Petra's side holding her burnt hand gently in his. He found himself crying cold tears down his cheeks. He loved her, not like anyone he had ever before. He tried to keep away from forming relationships with anyone after what happened to him many years ago. He lost all of his friends in a shooting, of which he only walked away with a scar on his shoulder.

"I can't lose you too..." He whispered to her. "I... I love you Petra. You can't leave. We've only been together for a little while, but I've never felt like this before with anyone. You're beautiful, kind, sweet... Perfect. You made me feel happy again after what happened to me. So... So you can't go. Please." He pleaded almost like a child. Tears came faster down from his grey eyes and onto the floor. He leaned forward and placed his forehead on her hand. He continued to sob, pleading her to stay.

As he cried, he felt movement from her hand as if she was awake. Levi quickly lifted his head and looked at her. Petra's eyes slowly opened and she weakly turned her head to look at him.

"Y-You're awake..." He sighed and smiled for the first time in years. Petra faintly smiled and began to speak. Her voice was extremely weak and soft.

"Hi Levi." She whispered.

"Hi babe." He whispered back. He gently squeezed her hand tighter in his. "How are you?" He could not sound more compassionate and concerned about anyone than he did now.

"I'm so tired..." She replied.

"That's okay." He lifted his free hand and rubbed her forehead kindly. "You should get some rest."

"Levi..." Petra's voice grew softer.

"What is it Petra?"

"I... Love you... So much..." She continued to grow weaker.

"And I love you too." Levi was getting concerned. It sounded like... She was saying goodbye.

"Be good, okay..?"

"W-What do you mean..?" His smile instantly vanished from his face and he became pale.

"Promise me you'll be good... Please... Promise me you won't... Blame yourself... Okay..?" Levi went silent. Petra looked at him and tears slowly fell. "Promise me Levi..."

"I promise." He said wholeheartedly.

"You brought so much light into my life..." She began to say her goodbyes. "You made me feel love for the first time. You made me feel special for the first time. You cared about me. I never felt more appreciated before in my whole life. These last few days were made... Amazing... Because of... You..." Her eyes grew heavy and she slowly closed them.

"P-Petra?" Levi stuttered with a broken heart. "D-Don't close your eyes. Please!" He stood up and began crying again. "Open your eyes! Petra!?" He heard the sound he never wanted to hear: a flat tone emitting from the heart monitor.

"No! Petra!" He sobbed, roaring out his pain. A team of nurses bursted into the room began preparing the defibrillator. "Wake up!" Levi sobbed. "No! You're not gone! Please!"

"Get him out of here!" The lead nurse ordered. A couple of nurses began to drag him out of the room. He fought back with all his might, but failed. He couldn't leave her. She wasn't dead... She was alive... She was asleep... She was his world, and now it's broken.

"Petra! Please!" He mourned. Levi began sobbing and collapsed to the floor outside her room. His heart was in pain. He never loved anyone so much and was devastated. He planted his face in his hands and tears poured from his eyes like waterfalls. As he recalled all the wonderful moments he had with her all the time he knew her.

Your POV
Against what I believed, I slowly made my way out of my bed to investigate why Levi was sobbing so hard. I didn't even know he was here let alone why. I got out somehow and began to hop on one foot towards the door. It was hard seeing as he half of my lower body was completely numb. I stumbled a little, but I began to use the wall for support. I went into the doorway and looked out down the hall to my right. I saw something I never thought I would see: Levi balling on the ground in front of a hospital room. I hobbled over to where he was and got a nurse telling me to go back to my room. I refused and continued hopping over to Levi. I finally made it and sat down next to him.
