Chapter 13

Sloane’s POV

When the lights turn on, my fist is inches away from Bebe’s face. I stopped myself just in time before it made contact. I blink rapidly, and look around the room.  Shiny and Slick are on top of Alex, and Eric is choking Shane.

We all turn our heads and see Wendy by the light switch, her right index finger still on the light switch. She looks at all of us, speechless. I roll off of Bebe, and Slick and Shiny let Alex go. Eric reluctantly pulls his hands away from Shane’s neck, and stares at him, and then at Bebe, Shiny, and Slick.

“As the head of my squad, what the heck are you four doing?”

Bebe stands up, fixes her shirt, and then looks at Eric. “As the head of my squad I told my teammates to attack you when you walked in here. You should never let your guard down.”

Alex and Wendy looked at each other, confused. I share a look with Eric, both of us understanding Bebe’s purpose of attacking us. It was actually a smart idea. I guess all three of us failed the test miserably.

Wendy opened her mouth to speak, but closed her mouth, looking unsure what exactly to say. She looked at Bebe, and for a moment I thought she was going to say something, but instead she looked at Eric, a questioning look still on her face.

“What I wanted from this exercise was to show you that just because you’re in the spy headquarters doesn’t mean you’re in a safe zone. Secret agents could get in at any time, especially now that the Alpha is gone.”

Wendy and Alex confused faces relax once they understand what’s going on. Shane moves from the wall, and saunters over to where I’m standing. His left eye is already starting to bruise, and soon, I realize he’s the one I punched in the eye with my elbow when somebody grabbed me by my waist.

He nudges me, and gives me a thumbs up. “Nice punch.”

I nod, and return my gaze back to Alex. There’s a giant bruise forming on his arm, and I can tell all the way from here that his lip is starting to swell. Wendy walks over to Bebe, and for a split second, I thought she was going high-five her, but no, she high-fives Bebe’s face with her fist.

She falls to the ground, yelling in shock. Shane makes a move to Wendy, ready to punch her, but I hold him back, restraining him from moving any further. Eric and Alex grab Shiny and Slick, struggling though since they are both much stronger than Eric and Alex.

Bebe stands back up, and soon she tackles Wendy to the ground. Wendy struggles, but is able to get a good hold on Bebe’s hair and is able to pull Bebe’s head upwards. It doesn’t faze Bebe, and soon her fist comes in contact with Wendy’s neck.

I let go of Shane, and tackle Bebe off of Wendy. I stand up quickly and start kicking her in the side, each kick stronger than the one before. Shane runs over to me, and picks me off the ground, and slams me to the ground, him on top of me.

He pushes my arms down, and Bebe gets back up to beat me up, but suddenly, Wendy appears, and jumps on her back. Her black hair whips in her face, and she wraps her arms around Bebe’s neck. Shane loosens his grip on my arms as he turns around to see what’s going on, giving me enough room to move my right arm out of his grip and slam my fist into his face.

He gasps in pain, and moves away. I go to help Wendy, but before I can get a step toward her, I hear the sound of the safety guard on a gun go off. I turn in the direction and see Shiny pointing a gun at my face.
