~ Will ~

His head spun, his brain hurt. He felt dead. Will wrapped another bandage, he gave some more ambrosia. He had been doing this for hours and he didn't know how many. People kept telling him to take breaks but he couldn't. He had to keep his mind away from distractions, distractions such as a certain son of Hades. Will stop it, he told himself, stop thinking negative... Stop thinking about everything else. Focus on your work.

He walked across the hall and opened the door. Will walked in to find a girl about six or seven lying on the bed. Her hair was black, her eyes were closed. The child's skin was the colour of light brown, she would have been cute maybe even pretty. Except for the fact that her leg was gushing blood, her arm was limp at her side and Will figured her ribs were broken... He focused on the girl, he had to help this was his job. He set to work, someone came in to help. They passed him a roll of gauze and a pair of plastic gloves, Will spent the next half hour healing her.

Once he was done he looked up to see... "Nico?"

Why had Nico come? Was it because he missed Will or- "You're welcome Solace." Nico's voice interrupted his thoughts, "You look like you're about to die... Go rest."

Will stared at Nico, this was not much of a gesture of kindness but more like an order. Part of his brain was screaming at the fact that Nico had just done that, the other half was trying to focus on staying awake. Will stumbled off.

Will woke up to the sound of screaming. It was loud and filled with grief and pain. Will hastily stood banging his head on a shelf, he realized that he had fallen asleep in the supply closet. He reached for the door nob and stepped out. The hallway of the infirmary was mostly empty, people ran between rooms with supplies. Someone screamed his name, they needed him. He had to get there. He had to help. The screams were getting louder and Will could tell that something had just gone terribly wrong.

The sound of screaming filled his ears. His mind told him to move, it screamed that a life was at risk and if he didn't go now it might be too late. There was too much going on, all he had to do was get there and do what he did best. But his feet stayed frozen in place. The screams were hauntingly familiar, the sound rung in Will's ears. He didn't know if it was in his head or not.

Why couldn't he move. Why wasn't he there doing what he did best. Emmy had said he hadn't been acting like himself lately, is this what she meant? Will's heart pounded in his chest, this breath was quick. Another scream rang out and some part of him realized he knew the voice. The voice that was screaming. His sister.

The screams melted something inside of him. She could die. He thought, And it would be my fault... Will hated himself at that moment, he was a medic. One of the best at camp and he was standing trying to get over his fears as someone died. He was better than that. He was Will Solace, son of Apollo. He was going to help. His feet unfroze and he ran.

Will could hear his name being called as he ran, the sound of his feet was drowned out by the beating of his heart. Someone was sitting on the floor up ahead, as Will came closer he recognised the person. Jason. He was within a few feet when Jason turned, his brow was tight with worry. When he saw Will he said something and pointed to a door across the hall. Will couldn't hear but he understood. He ran into the room and the screaming instantly got louder.

The room was half full of Apollo campers, Will pushed through his siblings, he reached the bed. A girl about fifteen lay unmoving. Her side was bloody, her eyes were closed. The bed sheets were soaked with blood. Will looked at the girl's face, he breathed a sigh of relief. It wasn't her.

Another scream pierced the air, Will turned and saw Charlie hurtling towards him. Her eyes were puffy and red from crying. Tears streamed down her cheeks. Will looked around and saw Jason at the doorway, he looked at Jason for support and Jason just nodded like, Do what you have to do. He walked over and gently pulled Charlie away, Jason led her out of the room and the screaming stopped.

Will turned to face his siblings. Austin stood and gave him his seat. Will studied the girl, "Someone get me nectar." He said. A few people scuttled off and Will set to work. Austin handed him supplies. "We sent for Chiron."

Will nodded in approval, him mind to busy with the task at hand to answer.

Will sat down, he had done it. barely. If he had been any later it would have been too late. Jason came in and handed him a glass of water. Jason sat down next to him, "Nice job."

Will nodded.

Jason looked at him and smiled, "Charlie knows the girl, that's why she was so upset."

Will nodded again.

"Where are they?"

"In there." Will pointed at the closed door across the hall, "Chiron is with them."

Jason didn't say anything, so Will said, "Why were you here?"

"What?"

"Why were you in the infirmary?"

Jason adjusted his glasses, "I bring news from the land of the dead."

Will grinned.

"Nico was going to come but..."

Will raised his eyebrows, "But?"

"He needed sleep." Jason said casually, "I told him that you would want him to be rested so he didn't die on the way to go see you."

"Good call."

Jason's face hardened, "I was wondering if you knew why Nico left camp when he was little?"

Will's brain went into full alert mode. He knew, he had heard the rumors. Because of love. Nico had left camp because of love. Every time anyone talked about it, Will would ignore them. He told himself he didn't want to know because he respected privacy. But he couldn't lie to himself, Will knew the real reason he chose to avoid this subject.

Will shook his head, "Not really."

"Oh..." Jason nodded, looking like his old self again.

The door opened and Chiron wheeled out, he looked tired. "Go ahead my boy," he said to Will.

Will and Jason walked into the small infirmary room. Charlie sat next to the bed, reading. On the bed was the girl. Charlie stood and hugged Will, "Thank you." she murmured and Will couldn't help smiling. They sat down and waited for the girl to wake up. Will studied her, she had the same color hair as Charlie, almost light brown but not quite.

The conch horn sounded and they all got up to leave. Except for Will. He wanted to say in case she woke up. After the others left the girl's eyes flew open. She didn't seem surprised to be somewhere she didn't recognise. She locked eyes with Will and said, "Don't worry. You can help him... Nico, I mean... He's not dead, just broken." then her eyes closed and she fell back asleep.

Not dead, just broken.

Just broken, Will smiled to himself. He understood what she meant, Death could not be reversed but wounds healed all the time. If Nico's heart was broken, then maybe a doctor could help.
