Thanks for requesting!

And sorry for the really long wait.

The last time y'all read from this book I was thinking about ranting way less and focusing only on tips.

Then I thought:

If I'm able to rant while simultaneously giving tips, I think I'm doing a pretty darn good job

Onto the tip!

Have you ever wondered what steps you should take when starting a story?

Did you ever just take a gamble and write some words on the paper, hoping they turn out right?

Hopefully, the answer to the second question is no.

There are right ways and wrong ways to start a story. And then there are very wrong ways.

Some of my favorite ways to start a story are dialogue, action, or a memory.

Dialogue would be a conversation. Action would a wrestling match or people engaging in a physical (or verbal) fight. Memory would be a flashback, touching on something that's already happened to establish who your character is.

Let me address some wrong ways:

Introducing the character as if they were taking a personality test.

Hi, my name is Sami Zayn.

I'm 32 years old and a wrestler for the WWE.

Some of my best friends are Finn Bálor and Neville.

My worst enemy is Kevin Owens.

No. This is absolutely unnecessary.

There's also the issue of writing it out like you're filling out a driver's license, but with a whole bunch of extra info.
