While working on his ship, Ratchet witnesses a crash and goes to check it out. In doing so, he finds a robot, he fixes him up, turns him on, and gives him a nickname, Clank. Thence forth they become the greatest fighting duo the galaxy has ever seen, Ratchet and Clank!
