Lydia and Zoey stood out in the rain, by the animal clinic.

Scott and Stiles both went to the jeep to get Derek, who was basically asleep.

Scott put him over his shoulder and the four ran into the clinic, then laid Derek down gently onto the metal table.

Deaton looked over him, "Wow."

"Wow? Wow as in, 'I've seen this before and I know exactly what to do,' kind of wow?" Stiles asked. "Cause that's the kind of wow we're hoping for."

"I think you might be overestimating my abilities." Deaton replied.

Lydia grabbed onto his hand, holding it gently. "He's cold. Really cold."

Deaton's brows scrunched together, grabbing onto his hand.

Scott looked at him, then up at Deaton. "Do you think this is permanent?"

Deaton turned a little flashlight on, then pulled both his eyelids open gently and looked at his eyes.

"I'm not sure a medical diagnosis is even adequate. This is well beyond my experience."

"So what do we do with him?" Zoey asked.

"Until he wakes up?" Deaton replied. "Probably not much. It might be best to leave him with me. He'll be safe here."

"You mean from Kate?" Stiles said.

"If she's alive and she is what you say she is, she won't be able to walk past that gate." Deaton said.

"Why would she want do this to him?" Lydia asked.

"Knowing Kate, it's probably a reason that won't be any good for anyone but her." Deaton said.

"And bad for everyone else." Stiles said and nodded.

Zoey also nodded, her eyes a bit low and heavy, meaning she is in need for sleep.

"You guys should probably go home. He doesn't look to be in any danger. So maybe the rest of you should get some sleep?" Deaton said. "It is a school night. And you all need to start taking care of your own lives again."

"Someone should stay with him." Scott suggested.

"I need sleep or I'll start acting rude and mean." Zoey smiled sarcastically, looking at Scott.

"I'll stay." Lydia said, her hand still holding his. "My grades are fine. Despite missing a few classes."

"I'm so not okay with this." Stiles stated.

"Yeah, I'm with him on this. Don't think that's a good idea." Zoey looked at Lydia.

"Guys, go." Lydia said, looking at her sister and Stiles.

"No." Stiles and Zoey both said.

"Text us if anything happens." Scott said.

"What, no. If she stays, I stay." Zoey said.

"No, you need sleep. Go." Lydia argued.
