Kenya flinched awake as she looked around, wondering where the demon spawns had taken her. The air was thick, humid, and the stench of death was pungent. The she wolf could hear screams and groans as she shifted on the dirty ground. Her body felt heavy as she tried to stand; the lycan's senses were everywhere. Her hearing was becoming too much, adding to the headache she already had. The smells she could usually forget about continued to bother her, and her vision was going in and out.
Stand up, Something boomed in her head, It's the drugs.
Drugs? Kenya hadn't taken a drug in her life, but then she remembered that the demons injected her with something.
You have to fight it.
"I can't," The hybrid spoke as she found a way to sit.
You can and you will, The voice expressed, Focus!
Kenya jumped at the being's voice. She touched the floor and heard metal scraping over the ground - chains. The she wolf gave a yank and felt the bonds strapped to her wrists. Kenya placed two hands on the ground, finding a way to her feet, and began tugging at the metal holding her to the wall. She had to get out, to Halsey and Link, to Lynn.
Why was she thinking about that girl in a moment like this?
Because she was worth living for, she was something worth fighting for. Kenya growled as she closed her eyes, not depending on sight anymore.
That's it, use your strength.
Her skin burned as she pulled against the metal, feeling the wolfsbane that coated the chains. Kenya stopped just for a moment.
No keep going.
"Why? What's the point?" The she wolf argued.
You're stronger than the poison, and you have a town to save. So focus and get out of there.
Kenya heard footsteps approaching her cell and she sat back down on the ground, trying to look half dead for her captors.
"Oh good, you're up," A familiar voice rang in Kenya's ear. Her head snapped in the voice's direction and saw a pair of red eyes staring right at her. Soon after, the person the voice and eyes belonged to stepped out of the shadows and revealed themselves. The she wolf's vision started to clear up just as the mystery woman wrapped her hands around the metal bars separating her from Kenya, a devious grin crawling onto her face. "I was starting to worry you weren't going to wake up."
Kenya's eyebrows knit together. "Halsey?"
The hybrid stuck her finger out and slid the cell door to the side, stepping inside and approaching Kenya. She squatted down in front of her and smirked, the fangs she acquired from her father's genes glowing white. "You sound surprised to see me."
"What did they do to you?"
"I think that's a question you should be asking yourself," The girl replied, poking the werewolf's nose and grinning.
"Kid, you have to fight this," Kenya pleaded with her, "You're stronger than this. Fight it."
"I don't know what you're talking about, Kenya."
"Halsey, they drugged you and put a demon inside of you." The lycan hybrid spoke to the blue-haired beauty, "You can't let them make you into one of their minions."
"Oh, Kenya, you're hilarious." The girl stood up, towering over her. "Don't you know? We're the future. We're the next generation, the one that'll wipe out your pathetic one and start from scratch. Like a phoenix, a beautiful thing that's going to rise from the ashes. And you, my friend, are the ashes."
