"What type of break then?"
She gripped her hand tightly with mine.
"..up.."
My eyes became wide in realization.
"Break... up?"
I let go off her hand and backed away from her.
"Peter..."
"You want to break up?"
"Yes but..."
"I can't believe this!"
I turned away from her in anger.
"No, Peter listen to me..."
She grabbed my arm and I shrugged it away.
"Y/n, can you do one thing for me?"
I turned towards her with a stern look.
"What Peter?"
I walked up closer to her as her watery eyes stared into mine.
"Look me in the eyes and tell me that you love me."
A tear slid down her cheek as she looked away from me.
"I can't... it hurts.."
"Why? Because you mean it or... because you don't?"
She stood in front of me in shock.
"I'm leaving and you better be gone when I get back."
"Wait.."
That's all I heard her say before sprinting off. For some reason my feet immediately took me to the Wienerschnitzel. The one where we first meet by the gas station. I walked over to the bench on the side and sat down . I took a deep breath before burying my face into my hands. Tears ran down my face as a hand touched my back in comfort.
"Peter... are you okay?"
Someone said as they choked back their own sobs. I slowly looked over to see Wanda. She was just as much of a mess as I was.
"No you?"
"No."
"You and Ruthie?"
"Yeah..."
"I'm sorry.."
"What happened with you and y/n though?"
"I don't know.."
She hugged me from the side and rested her head on my shoulder.
"I'm completely in love with her but I broke up with her anyways because... she doesn't love me."
"I'm sorry Wanda."
"Why did y/n break up with you?"
"She said something about me distracting her from her education.."
"Well that means she just needs a break from you, she probably still loves you."
"She doesn't"
"What?"
She gave me a concerned look as she turned my gaze to hers.
"She couldn't say it to me.."
"Say I love you?"
"Yeah.."
"Peter that doesn't mean she doesn't love you.."
"Just because Ruthie is hiding something from you doesn't mean she doesn't love you.."
