Incoming Call
Shirls :>
4 : 39 am
"Too early, baby. Too early."
"Wait, what?! Are you referring to me?"
"Huh? What did I say?"
"Bab─ "
"Look outside! The sun is rising, Shirls! I repeat, the sun is rising."
"I'm not gullible enough to look through my bedroom window and see if the sun is fudging shining. It's pretty obvious that it's still dark outside."
"Peaches, you still spied through the window, didn't you?"
"No..."
"Come on now, Shirley Pie. Don't lie to me. You peeked even the slightest of all peeks. Am I right?"
"No!"
"Oh, really?"
"Fine! Perhaps, I did. Satisfied now?"
"Yup. And anyway, what are you doing still awake? You seem tired. Don't drink too much coffee. You're not getting enough rest."
"I'm not drinking coffee, Clark. It's just that this week has been a bit rough for me. I'm weak."
"What's your kryptonite? Why are you like this? Sorry if I ask too many questions but I'm seriously curious."
"You know, my kryptonite is quite hilarious because it's nonexistent yet it still controls who I am, what I feel, and how I cope to things."
"What is it? What do you mean it's nonexistent?"
"Since the cookies were absolutely divine, not only am I going to buy more but I'm also going to address you as Cookie Monster from now on."
"Whoa, thanks but... irrelevant to the topic! Sesame Street? Are you kidding me? That's your way of changing the subject? You can't play any games on me. I'm still persistent to know why you're like this... why you're 'weak'. I really want to help, Shirls."
"Well, you're quite intelligent so there's no point on trying to puzzle you when you can easily figure me out puzzling you, if you get what I mean... So h-here it goes, my kryptonite is m-my..."
"Your?"
"...family."
"I'm so sorry, Shirley."
"W-what are you sorry for? You haven't done anything wrong. Well, except for constantly calling me rude."
"I mean, well, is that why... orphanage? Visiting?"
"Nailed it, Cookie Monster. I wanted to visit because it was... n-never mind. I'm just no one. I have nobody. Why is that?"
"Fiddlesticks! Technically, you have me, remember? I know it must be difficult dealing with everything. But please, if you're ever down in the dumps, just talk to me. Always feel free to do so."
"That's good... I got to admit you're so much better than Superman. I'm really glad I met you."
"Same, Shirley Pie. Same."
"I should rest, right? You should as well, Clark. Sorry if I bothered you or anything."
"Yea, you probably should and it's okay. I just woke up."
"Night─ morning, Nielsen. I hope you have a good one."
"Don't worry. It's already a good one."
