~~~Reader-chan POV~~~
I pulled Ed along, dragging him by the hand to a frozen pond.
"So, uh, you took me here because...?" Ed drifted off, smiling nervously as I let go of his hand and and started digging into the heavy backpack I'd brought with us.
"Ice Skating, silly!" I pulled the skates from my pack and held them up for him to see. Light glittered on the metal blade-like bottom of the skates. Fear flashed in Ed's eyes as he looked at the dangling boots.
"I-I, uh, I'm n-not so sure th-that's a good idea..." Ed stuttered, backing away and slowly crunching the frost ridden grass beneath his boots.
"Oh come on, it's a great idea! I can teach you how to skate, and we'll have a great time. Now come on you little-" Ed cut me off.
"DON'T CALL ME LITTLE, I'M NOT THAT SH-SH.... short..." Ed dropped his head in defeat.
"Come on, it'll be fun!" I sat Ed down, pulling of his boots and replacing them with the ice skates I'd lugged all the way out to here.
I pulled on my own skates, standing up and dragging Ed on to the ice as he trembled. I pulled the terrified boy to his feet, steadying him and holding his hand tightly to keep him from falling.
"It's kind of like walking, just slide one foot in front of the other, keeping the skates on the ice but lifting your feet slightly at the same time." I instructed, pulling him slowly as he shuffled forward.
"S-so, like this?" Ed began taking longer strides.
"There you go, that's it!" I encouraged. "I'm going to let go now."
"Wait, no!" Ed screeched. I let go, giggling when he continued to slide awkwardly on his own. "Hey, I think I'm getting the hang of- Ah!" Ed slipped and fell, hitting the ice with a dull thump and groaning as he attempted to push himself back up.
"Ohh, so close." I chuckled, skating quickly over to my fallen friend to help him up. Unfortunately, he had different plans. The moment he took my offered hand he pulled me down with him. "Gah!" I toppled down, landing across Ed's stomach with my face on the ice. "You jerk, I was trying to help you!" I laughed, not even bothering to try and get up.
"Yeah, well you were the one that let go!" Ed retorted, eventually breaking into laughter as well.
"Well aren't we just two idiots laughing to themselves while collapsed on the ice." I finally stopped laughing, a big goofy smile plastered on my face.
"Oh shut up and get off of me." Ed grumbled good naturedly, shoving me off his torso and onto the cold ice.
"Well thanks, now I'm lyin' on the cold hard ground with nothing to warm me up." I whined.
"Correction, you are on the ice, therefor on water. There is no ground here." Ed chuckled, getting to his feet and wobbling a bit before he regained his balance.
"Yeah, yeah, mister science and alchemy master, just help me up, okay?" I sighed, watching as Ed attempted to skate forward. "Nevermind, I'll just help myself." I giggled once more, getting to my feet and pulling Ed back towards the edge of the pond.
"Done already, o' skating master?" Ed teased, shuffling his way back onto the grass.
"It's cold and I want some hit cocoa. Not to mention you still completely suck at skating." I replied, tugging off the skates and replacing them with my shoes.
"Shut up, I was just, uh, doing it that way to make you feel better." Ed mumbled, struggling to yank off the clunky skates.
"Oh my god, just let me do it." I undid the laces and pulled them off, putting his boots back on as well before hoisting him to his feet.
"I'm not a little kid, I can do stuff by myself..." Ed grumbled, kicking a pinecone as we walked.
"Oh hush you." I gave Ed a peck on the cheek, watching in delight as his entire face heated up. "Last one to the house is doing dishes tomorrow!" I took off running giggling the whole way.
"Wha- You can't just pull a thing like that and run off! Come back here, (y/n)!" Ed rushed after me, trying to keep up but failing as I burst inside moments before him.
"Looks like you have to do the dishes." I teased, sticking my tongue out childishly.
"Yeah yeah, whatever you dork." Ed ruffled my hair and walked off to the kitchen to prepare some Hot Cocoa.
I'm conclusion, skating is much more fun when you've got a friend to fall down with.
