I was throwing my bags into the waiting carriage before climbing in. As the carriage began to move, I turned to face the Headquarters again as my friends and the others were waving goodbye and wishing me luck. I waved back to them with a sad smile on my face as I watched them slowly fade off into the distance. I felt my eyes beginning to water as I placed my hands folded tightly in my lap, but the tears didn't threaten to fall from my eyes.
I watched the scenery pass me by as I thought about what my future was going to be like now that I'm going to train with the cadets so that I could graduate to become a Scout on the Survey Corps. The journey to the new base would only be half a day's trip, but I couldn't hold back my excitement as my dream was in my reach. As time passed, my eyes began to get heavy and I started drifting off to sleep.
#####
"(L/n), we are arriving to your destination," the man on the horse said as I yawned and stretched my back. I peered out the sides of the cart and saw a base slowly come to view. There were a few people training hand-combat, some people were running around doing obstacles, and some were just sitting around talking. As I approached the new base, their Commander walked up to the carriage and waited for me to climb out. I grabbed my items and thanked the man as he began to leave. As I turned around, I was startled when the Commander studied me closely with a hand on his chin.
"So you must be (Y/n) (L/n), correct?" He asked as he turned on his heals and started walking towards the base as I was following by his side.
"Yes, sir," I replied with confidence and integrity. He gave me a small nod and continued.
"I've heard many great things about you, (L/n). Captain Ackerman and Corporal Erwin gave me quite the surprise telling me that a young girl such as yourself could graduate early," he said with a small huff. "So you're here to train for approximately a year, then your going back to the Survey Corps?"
"That's the plan, sir," I answered. "I was instructed to officially train here and graduate when I turn 16. The Captains once mentioned that I was supposed to graduate with the 104th class but they informed me that I was skilled enough to skip ahead," I added. He just nodded his head as we both approached the actual base fields.
"Well, if the Captain Ackerman could say anything good about someone, then I'll take his word for it since he is Humanity's Strongest," the Commader responded as I followed behind him while he continued.
"If you could prove to Captain Levi and Corporal Erwin that you could graduate early, I would then want you to help these other cadets while you're here. They're going to be the class you were originally going to graduate with, the class of 104. Some of them are unteachable and I'm just waiting to throw them out. That is unless you could change them." He added as he guided me towards the other cadets who were practicing.
They were all training until they saw their commander walk towards them. They all stopped and fixed their posture with their arms ready to salute him with a hand behind their back and a fist in front of their heart. They all stared at me with curiosity at first, but was then replaced with a look of welcoming and kindness.
"Listen up!" The Commander shouted as everyone straighten their posture. "This young cadet here is one of Captain Ackerman's prodigies, Miss (L/n). She is here to help you become a well trained cadet like herself. Listen to her and do as she says. She may be young like the rest of you, but she will also be in charge of all of you until she graduates. Do I make myself clear!?"
"Yes sir!" Everyone answered as they saluted him. The Commander then nodded his head and walked off somewhere, leaving me awkward and alone. When he was completely out of sight, all the cadets relaxed and circled around me. The first person to greet me was a boy who had a very distinct face to put it slightly. Not ugly, just....strange.
