CHAPTER 2- LILLIAN'S P.O.V
AT THE APARTMENT
"Well, this is it!" Niall swung the door open and let me pass in front of him. The kitchen was on my left, consisting of 2 counters against the walls and one branching off beside the door. The lounge room was a large open space connected to the kitchen, with three boxes scattered around. The carpet was a light grey and a small two person sofa sat in the middle of the room. An enormous window covered the entirety of the area to the right of the door and a small balcony looked out over the few houses and onto the beach.
"It's so big!" I exclaimed, looking around the wide space. Only two boxes sat on the kitchen counter, so it was obvious he travelled light. "Is this all your stuff?"
"Basically, there are 4 more boxes in my room and a tv! But that's it." Niall shrugged and shut the door behind him. "Your room would be this one." There were three doors, one directly beside the kitchen, one directly beside the large window and another between the two. He directed me to the room beside the window by placing his palm on my shoulder blades.
It wasn't an intimate touch or anything sexual but it managed to make my breath hitch in my throat. The skin tingled where he'd touched, like there were actual pop rocks on my back. He removed his hand to open the white door and the area began to grow hot, like it was longing for his touch to return.
"Have a look around." He smiled at me and walked out, grabbing a box and taking it to another room. The room I now stood in was bare but simply beautiful. It had a large mirror in front of a built in bench but besides that the room was empty. The carpet matched the lounge room and there were two windows that sat in the wall at hip height and carried up past my reach. It was perfect. Smiling complacently, I decided right there and then that this place was where I wanted to be.
This decision seemed rushed but it was just easy to make. This place was beautiful and close to my work. And when I finally save enough to start studying marine biology at uni, I'll have a great study space. It was perfect.
Walking back out, I expected to find Niall in sight but the room was empty.
"Niall?" I called softly, creeping towards the other two doors. One was open and I could see Niall unpacking a box into a cube of drawers. The other door was closed though and I had no idea what was in there.
Oh my god, was he a murderer? Maybe behind this door was his stack full of dead bodies and that's why he had moved here, he was on the run! That would explain the few belongings! I don't even know this guy, what am I doing?!? I need to leave.
"Oh sorry, that's the bathroom." His light voice spooked me and I stood staring at the door stunned. I felt him edge past me and open the door for me, looking at me obscurely. Behind the white door was a toilet, and shower. White tiles; no dead bodies.
"Oh right right, sorry. This place is amazing! I love it!" I snapped myself out of my insane thoughts and turned towards the boy. A bathroom, of course!
"Yeah? So, you wanna move in?" He chuckled at his own bluntness but I nodded enthusiastically. "Okay! Awesome! We can talk about rent and stuff now if you like? This place is actually not too expensive because it's not right on the beach and the guy that owns this place is so old, his prices are still in the 50's really." His quick wit was impressive and I couldn't not be slightly attracted to him. Blonde hair, blue eyes, bright smile and funny, what more could a girl want?
"Yeah that's no problem. But first let's celebrate!" I grinned.
AT THE CLUB
"Do they have clubs like this in Ireland?" I shouted over the loud lyrics of Flume and took a sip from my drink.
