I'll take you to the moon

"It's my turn to organise a date" I protest.

Charley just throws her hands on her hips in annoyance, her pouting makes me laugh.

"Don't pout, you look like a duck." I cry with laughter as she sticks out her lips even more. "As much as you are amazing at organising things, it's my turn."

After the picnic by the lake she followed this with dates at the local amusement park, a day at the beach and a cinema night. I however hadn't paid for anything or haven't organised anything despite wanting to do something for her.

"You don't need to do anything. I'm just happy that you're my girlfriend" she quickly replies.

"Girlfriend?" I tease. "When exactly did I agree to this?"

"I...I...I just assumed that we were exclusive" she stuttered.

Since I got to know her really well she rarely stuttered or blushed anymore so seeing her speechless was a rarity that was just so cute.

"I was kidding. I like the sound of it. Exclusive" I smile sounding out the word 'exclusive' to myself. "On one condition" she stares blankly at me. "I get to organise the next date" I grin. She sighs giving up.

"Ok. As long as I get to call you my girlfriend" she smiles throwing her hands around my neck.

"Deal" I reply embracing the hug.

"So I kinda agreed to organise it this time. Problem is I have no idea what to do" I vent my problems to one of my best friends Joe.

I wonder if he had even listened to me as he just stares back in deep thought.

"Earth to Joe" I snap my fingers in front of his eyes causing him to blink back into life.

We were currently in the same place that Charley worked luckily she was currently in lectures, unfortunately that meant the coffee wasn't as good. I looked into my unfinished coffee groaning to myself.

"You should have just let her continue organising them. You're obviously the brainless one in this relationship" he laughs out loud. I flick the side of his head in annoyance. "Oh if only I had a brain" he continues mocking me.

"So any ideas?" I ask sincerely.

"Umm well I took Laura out to that new restaurant in town, she loved it" he replied without mocking me this time.

"That sounds so cliché" I grumble.

"Well you asked me" he shrugs disheartened. "If only you could take her to the moon, that wouldn't be clichéd" he mocks again stringing out my choice of the word clichéd.

Suddenly I had a thought. "I have an idea" I smile.

"You do?" he questions surprised.  "What is it?" he asks suddenly interested.

"That would be telling" I grin leaning back smugly into the seat.

I text Charley who would be out of class by now to meet me at my house at 6pm before I jump into my car and drive home as quickly as possible. Joe said to take her to the moon so I will, I mean of course not for real but I knew she would love what I had planned.
I changed my clothes to something that would be suitable and comfortable for what I had planned. I put some  jeans, converses and I threw on a hoody over my t-shirt. Not exactly date material but I didn't want any other clothes to get ruined. I grabbed my camera, the food I had got on the way home, a flask filled with coffee and a blanket and put them all into a bag as I waited for Charley. I bounced excitedly in onto the sofa waiting for the bell to ring.
'BUZZZZZ' It was Charley, I jumped up from where I sat and grabbed my bag before running to open the door. I locked the door up behind me before turning back to a confused and startled looking Charley. I probably looked a bit rushed but I didn't want her to miss what I had planned.

"Get in the car" I grinned walking over to the driver's side myself. I started the car up and quickly pulled out of the road.

"What are we doing?" Charley asks.

  "Wait and see" I smile.

I turn my car stereo on, I currently had Ed sheeran playing so when give me love started playing I began singing at the top of my lungs. "Give me love like never before." I peer to the side of me and watch Charley inch back into her seat through embarrassment. Both of our windows were open but I didn't care that people could hear me.

I pulled off onto a deserted country road for a few miles before coming to a stop. "From here we walk" I laugh watching Charley's mortified expression.

"Walk? The sun will be setting soon" she gulps.

"Don't be scared I'm here with you" I reassure her. I jump out grabbing the bag I had packed and set off onto a small country lane.

We soon reach the top of a steep hill.

"We're here" I announce.

We look out across the amazing view of the unfolding countryside.

"Just wait" I almost whisper scared to disrupt the silence.

I grab my camera and wait for the sunset that will soon follow. I always came up here for family walks and the views and sunset never failed to impress me.

   "Wow" I hear Charley gasp.

The sunset causes the landscape to turn into a colour explosion of orange and reds before eventually disappearing altogether.  I sit down pulling out some of things I bought before turning back to my camera scrolling through the photos.

"That one is amazing" I hear charley from behind me.

I was currently looking at a photo of her with the sunset behind her.

"I like it too" I smile.

I set the camera down and pull out some brownies I had got. Chocolate brownies none the less.

"My favourite" she chuckles picking up a brownie and munching into it.

I begin to laugh at a piece of chocolate on the side of her mouth. Her tongue attempts to clean off the side of her mouth unsuccessfully. I grab her chin and use my thumb to wipe it off before giving her a peck on the lips.

"I couldn't take you to the moon but I thought this would be even better" I say before pointing out the clear night sky.

The stars were glistening and the moon was bright. It was perfect and totally clichéd but I didn't care as I watched the light from the moon glisten in Charley's eyes.
