The drive to joshes house was uplifting and also simultaneously the most depressing thing he's ever encountered. On one hand, he was going to see josh, someone he didn't have the luxury of seeing everyday but on the other hand he'll have to explain what happened.

Tyler's phone made a noise in the background of his thoughts. He ignored it and focused on driving with tear blurry vision. It was 7:34 and still dark, thanks to it being winter. Tyler turned on the AC and hoped his toes didn't fall off on the way across town. He sniffled and rubbed tears out of his eyes.

He passed a McDonald on the way and momentarily considered it in the back of his mind. He promised himself he'd eat at joshes. Monty had locked up the fridge with a chain so Tyler couldn't get into it.

The stoplight turned red and Tyler waited patiently for the city to start moving again, not that it had really stopped. Dog walkers kept going, tried kids and even more tired mom's hurried down the streets. Tyler didn't question why they were out, especially in this weather.

The light turned green. He went.

An even more depressing feeling washed over me as I stared at the apartment door.

My head rolled back drunkly while my thoughts consumed me.
"This is so stupid. I'm so stupid. Why didn't I just stay the night?"

I was about to knock when the door swung open. Josh stood there, inches taller than me in casual jeans and a grey shirt with a toothbrush in his mouth. My eyes were instantly drawn up to his vibrant, fluffy pink hair.

"How'd you know i was here?" I asked, confused.

"Ever heard of depression on your doorstep? Just kidding, I have an automatic alarm." He said and pulled me into his warm apartment quickly. It faintly smelled leftover pizza. A ghost of a smile washed over me but didn't last too long.

Josh was only a year older than me but I still feel like a kid around him. Everything in his life was so put together. He ran a hair dye company that just got its first break last year.

"Are you alright?" He took a step closer and looked me in the eye, with gentle hands, he softly caressed my face. I tried not to hiss at his touch.

I thought about lying to him but I wanted comfort and the warm feeling I always got when he touched me.

I shook my head and dive-bombed into his chest, wrapping my arms around him. He did the same without hesitation. We'd known each other for 5 years now and it was normal for this kind of thing to happen every couple months. The older boy rested his chin on the top of my head and kissed my hair sympathetically.
