Your POV
I sat in my room, alone and still. I watched out my window as Jake talked to Emma. I always liked him but since he's been with Emma since the day he moved in with us, I couldn't express that. I heard my door open, it was Hugh, "are you stalking Jake again?" He teased, I shook my head laughing. Hugh was the only person who knew about my liking towards Jake, and my stalkerish tendencies. Surprisingly he never told anyone, like he promised, the only beings he had ever told were his BEEings (sorry not sorry). I looked back out the window and saw them kissing, I quickly turned my head back to Hugh as he looked out my window. "Gross! They should be ashamed!" He exclaimed, jumping back from my window, Hugh always made me laugh. "I just wish I could tell him how I really feel" I sighed as Hugh wrapped his arm around me, "then tell him, it's not like your going to kiss him" he pointed out. I realized it was actually a valid point he had, I wasn't going to kiss him, so what was the problem? My shyness. I really only ever opened up to Hugh about my life and everything that went on in my head, he was like a brother. We heard miss peregrine call us for dinner, we both raced down the stairs, getting to the table before most of the other peculiars. The other kids came and we started digging in, I stared at Jake. "(Y/N)!" I heard someone call, it was Horace, "uh, Yea?" I asked nervously. Horace smirked, "would you mind telling us all why your staring at Jake?", I quickly noticed everyone staring at me. I felt a thousand butterflies in my stomach, like I was about to hurl, Jake was the only one not staring, because he was looking down. "may I be excused, I don't feel good" I said, there was a huge lump in my throat, "you may" miss peregrine said, she sounded concerned. I quickly pushed out my chair and ran to my room, I was probably being overdramatic but that's just the way I was. I didn't know why but I started crying, it was so stupid but I couldn't help it. I was publicly humiliated in front of all my friends, I know Horace didn't mean to make me cry. There was a light knock on my door, "who is it" I said trying to sound alright, "Hugh" he said. I quickly wiped my tears on my dress, I opened the door, it wasn't just Hugh though, Jacob was there too. "You lied" I whispered to Hugh, "no I just didn't mention Jake was here. Just tell him, he probably knows by now" he whispered back. Sighing, I walked over to Jake, "I like you. There I said it" I mumbled to him. He kissed me suddenly, I was shocked but I quickly kissed him back, he pulled away. "What about Emma?" I asked, I didn't want to be a part of breaking Emma's heart, "what she doesn't know won't kill her" he whispered, putting his forehead against mine.
