I felt like I was being lifted up into the clouds. The wind swept through my hair as I moved up. Two arms were around me and I could here the movement of rocks bellow. The image of Hope replayed in my mind and tears pricked my eyes. My childish personality was gone. The desire to play on swings and walk around barefoot in grass as I chase my baby nephew was gone. Little tutu’s and Twister seem pointless. I could feel it now. A part of my soul was missing. My eyes slowly opened to meet Serenity’s soft soothing eyes. The tears that were falling from my eyes were mirrored in Serenity’s eyes.
“When the doctors brought me back, they didn’t revive all of me, did they? Some of me is now missing in hell or has simply been ripped away from me like Hope was. Those people ripped that part of my soul apart when I was being revived. Hope is dead!” I couldn’t help but scream as more tears fell from my eyes.
Fiera was the first to speak as she replaced Serenity’s comforting arms. “Yes she is and no she isn’t all at the same time.”
“What do you mean she isn’t dead? I felt her disconnect from me and I lost her.”
“It’s complicated but Hope is not dead she is simple separated from you the same way you are from your body. There are ways to reconnect her but that would take you and Satan coming to a deal along with a part of her still willing to be part of you.”
“So I can gain her back by reconnecting her.” Closing my eyes I tried to piece together everything they were trying to tell me. “Almost like a puzzle?”
The reference caused Fiera to laugh but her face turned somber. “This is like no puzzle you have ever seen before and the pieces won’t always be as kind as Hope with her initial rejection. You have to lose those parts then pick them back up and reconnect with them in the same way you lost them. For example to put Hope back in you, it would take you letting her express something she has yet to express. Something that maybe you haven’t been able to deal with yet?”
“This is all so complicated and horrible.” Frustration seeped through my voice as I realized just how tiring this journey had becoming.
“I know this is hard Lisa but it’s only going to get worse from here. You’re either going to break down and be stuck here in pieces forever or you’re going to stand up and leave. Ask the damn questions you have so we can move on. I hate this pit of hell. Do you think you can stand now?”
When I gained the strength to stand again I notice that we were no longer in Hope’s pit of torture but in this new land farther bellow. When I looked up I notice that the ground me must have walked down to reach this point is covered in flames, black much and broken bodies. I turned back to Serenity to see her smiling at the wall of souls behind us. All of them were haggard and looked tired but there eyes were pinned open. Disgusted I looked away before I turned once more to look at the people. I was here to learn something so I had to take the chance and let them speak to me.
Their arms seemed as if all the bones had been ripped out of them and there legs had barbwire wrapped around them. Blood oozed from the gashes that covered their bodies. The smell of the rotting flesh was enough to make any person sick but I tried to contain my composure as not to offend whoever owned this part of hell. One by one the men began to try and sit but when they tried the barbwires tightened cutting them more. So instead they limply picked up the bones from the fire and began to move toward the hill of flames and much. Serenity’s voice rang out causing me to listen to her words.
“Oh dearest Fiera, that isn’t nice to say about such a lovely place.” Lustful glee and a pleasure filled sigh escaped Serenity’s lips causing me to gasp at her words. “Oh how they groan in pain. How the souls are tormented sets a sweet song in me. I can’t help but love their little pointless struggling. I hear their noise and just want to sing. Oh how I have such a wonderful voice that sends these souls to their feet even though they do not have the energy to move. Lisa, would you care to hear a song?”
