Get Your Spy On Chapter 18

I grin back at him. This is what we've been waiting for. This is going to be the only perk in being a spy, catching the bad guys. The other bad guys I mean. I head to my room, but Ben stops me.  

"Hey, do you think dad's okay?" 

I turn around, and see for once Ben doesn't look like a complete, for better choice of word, a jerk. I nod at him. "I think so. If they didn't find them, it's a good thing. Maybe they got away." 

Ben nods, and then he returns to his computer. I feel like we've had this conversation before, but whatever. When I get on my computer I send a webcam request to Tyler. Tyler accepts it, and soon he's on the screen. 

"There's no news on your father thankfully," Tyler says once he sees me. 

"Yeah, I know. Maybe it's good, or maybe it's bad. I don't want to talk about it though. I don't want to think that my dad is going through what happened to Allen." 

Tyler takes his glasses off and cleans the lenses with his shirt. "Well, if you want to change the subject we can talk about Bridget coming up to me today asking me what she has to do to get you to go out with her." 

I give him a look. "Like she'd really sound that desperate. Did you tell her I'm not interested?" 

He nods. "She just laughed at me. I told her to get lost, and then she nearly punched me. I don't know what she wants from you. I mean you're not special to her." 

I roll my eyes at him, and he laughs. Tyler and I do homework over webcam, and eventually I hear his mother tell him he has to go. To that, Tyler yells back that he can do whatever he wants that he's nearly seventeen. 

"Three months isn't "nearly" seventeen," I say, using his mother's voice. He laughs, and soon I hear his door open. "Ooh you're in trouble." 

Tyler's mom appears on the screen, smiling at me. "Hello Alex. Tyler, put this computer on mute this instance." 

Tyler does what she says, and soon, I see his mother throwing her hands in the air and yelling at the top of her lungs. I laugh as she points at the screen. Tyler glances at the screen, and glances back at his mother, mouthing something to her. 

She slowly looks back at the screen, reddening. She waves to me, and I wave back. Tyler clicks a button on his screen, and soon I can hear them. 

"She didn't know you could still see her," he says gleefully. 

I laugh, and so does Tyler, getting a slap on the arm from his mother. She tells Tyler to get off, and he tells me he'll see me in school tomorrow. I say okay, and then I end the webcam session. Speaking of school, I haven't seen Sloane there either. It's as if she's fallen off the face of earth these past few days. I grab my school work, and start on it, and I take a break after I get stuck on algebra.  

I hear the door open and shut, and then the sound of Sandy's voice. She's here again? Shouldn't she be taking care of her mother instead of coming here to snuggle with Ben on the couch? I open my door and poke my head out of my room to see her hug him. I see Ben's face looks slightly annoyed by being interrupted from his work, but Sandy is an exception.  

Sandy pulls out of the hug, and then turns around. She spots me, and waves. I open my door fully and wave back. I walk over to her, and she gives me a friendly hug. 

"Hey, I haven't seen your sister lately," I say casually, sitting down on the couch. 

Ben and Sandy sit down as well, Sandy in the middle. She frowns, "Yeah, she's been to herself these past few days. Actually, I haven't seen her leave her room these past few days, but then again I haven't been home very much either. I have a lot of tests this week."
