----
Jiho knocked on the heavy wood door at the Lee's house and was greeted by Donghyuck's father. He welcomed her inside and took her to the living room where he was reading books about art, "The Lost World of Monotones." Jiho read out loud as she picked up a book on the coffee table.
"Jiho, art isn't only the movement of a paintbrush or pen. Art is what the mind can't put into words. A form of simplicity filled with luxury. Art allows a person to hold the whole world in their hands. Art is a response, not an action." Mr. Lee explained as he patted the spot next to him on the sofa.
She nodded her head as he looked into her eyes, "What's troubling you?"
Jiho's favorite thing about Mr. Lee was his use of words. Rather than saying 'what's the matter' he'd say things like 'what's troubling you.'
"Mr. Lee, Donghyuck isn't ready." Jiho sighed as he nodded his head with pursed lips.
"Why do you figure that?"
Jiho looked at her hands for a moment, "Last week, he wouldn't speak of you and when I brought you up, he was cold and quiet; absent almost."
"Because to him, this isn't real. He can't process that one day he'll wake up and I'll be nothing but a memory." Mr. Lee responded calmly.
Jiho's least favorite thing about Mr. Lee was how at peace he was with dying. Rather than jumping out of a plane or seeing the world, he was locked in his house with tea, ginger cookies and books.
"When my dad died, I remembered how mad I was. I was mad at his work for letting it happen, my mom for simply letting him go to work that morning and at him, because he was gone. And of course, those were petty reasons to be mad, he obviously didn't choose to die. But he was no longer mine in a matter of a second." Jiho sighed as Mr. Lee remained silent.
"How'd he die?" Mr. Lee asked.
Jiho frowned as she recalled her dad's death, as she didn't tell anyone he was dead, "He was a police and directed traffic. The roads were frosty from the snow and the driver couldn't stop the car..."
"When was this?"
"Five years ago, I was eleven."
"When did you begin to forget about him?" Mr. Lee questioned with a hint of fear in his voice.
"I never forgot- I never will. You forget the small things. Like the sound of their shoes on the stairs or the smell of their cologne. But them- the person, you can't forget." Jiho responded.
Mr. lee looked at Jiho with tears in his eyes, "I don't want to die."

"Where are we going?" Jiho asked as Mr. Lee got in the driver's seat of Donghyuck's old red car.
"We're going to pick up Donghyuck." Mr. Lee said as he jammed the keys into the ignition.
Jiho smiled as he began driving towards Mark's house. He put on his music, some she had heard from her grandpa. Mr. Lee was roughly the same age as her mother, but he had an old soul that favored music from the 60's.
"Tell him to come outside." Mr. Lee smiled as they drove down Mark's street.
Jiho nodded her head and texted him, a confused Donghyuck peeped his head out of Mark's front door, with six heads following. His eyes got wide as he rushed outside, "What are you doing here?"
He wasn't mad but pleasantly surprised. The boys ran to the car and waved at Mr. Lee and Jiho, "Come on boys, get in!"
The boys looked at Donghyuck and he nodded his head, Jiho got out of the car to let the boys into the back. They filled the seats and were squished in the back. She looked around as she no longer had somewhere to sit, "The cars packed."
Jaemin looked up, "I guess you'll have to sit on Donghyuck's lap."
The boys chuckled as he reminded them of the day they all met, "Funny."

All nine of them got a booth at a diner near the Lee's house. They each stared at the menu and nodded their heads to the music playing in the background of the diner. Mr. Lee smiled as he looked at everyone, "I'm happy we did this."
Jiho looked up from her menu and saw Donghyuck smiling at his dad's response. He had the type of smile that made everything a little less shitty. A smile that could change the world and that was one of her favorite things about him.
"You're cute." Jiho stated as Donghyuck began to smile even wider.
"He got it all from me." Mr. Lee mumbled which made the group laugh.
"Even the personality runs in the family." Jiho grinned.
They all continued their conversations, mainly Mr. Lee telling them stories about his teen years and Jiho couldn't help but stare at Donghyuck because she had never seen him happier. He listened intently with a huge smile on his face. He'd laugh and she'd smile wider because it felt as if his happiness was a bit more important than her's. She wanted to give him the world and she knew he deserved the world. But the only thing repeating in her head was Mr. Lee's soothing voice, 'sooner or later you'll begin to see that you are his world.'
----
Sometimes I write these chapters and I actually begin to cry. Like any chapter with Mr. Lee in it makes me sob. I hope mr. lee's personality is a little vivd now. He's a man of intelligence and is very quiet. He is extremely wise and has a fitting analogy for everything. He's a man of art that knows his way with words and will be a big asset in the book.
(Side note- Jiho is still getting raped by Mr. Kim after school. But I understand the rape scenes might be uncomfortable to read so I try not to incorporate them constantly. Sooo yeah.)
Thank you for reading my lovely people.
