"i suppose this is where we're stopping," tyler observed after the car had been stopped for 10 minutes. josh looked at him in disbelief, confused at his stupidity before shutting the car off.
the two boys were alone in the forest and the rain was lessened by the abundant trees but it was still falling very hard. it was getting darker by the minute, both the clouds and the setting sun being the causes. it gave the atmosphere an eerie feeling but tyler tried his hardest to ignore it.
"now what," tyler asked, feeling restless after sitting in the car for so long.
"well, i guess we could go to sleep," josh suggested, seeing as it was getting dark.
"but it's only 6," the boy noticed, not wanting to sleep so early.
"well what else are we gonna do," josh asked.
"uh, i don't know, go for a walk?" the boy spoke, not wanting to go to sleep.
"it's pouring rain," josh pointed out.
"so?" the boy replied.
"so, we don't have an umbrella and i don't want to get soaked." josh rolled his eyes, causing tyler to cross his arms in frustration.
"can't we do something? i don't wanna sleep, i wanna be an angsty teen and stay up late rebelling," tyler whined in exasperation.
"don't you think running away with someone who tried to steal from you is rebelling enough?" the blue haired boy answered.
"josh," tyler pouted. "we've been driving all day and i'm bored, can't we do something?"
"god," josh sighed, knowing he'd give in. "i guess."
"oh sweet," tyler smiled widely, the boy's smile causing josh's heart to pound just a little faster.
"i don't really know what we can do tho, lemme check what's in the bag," josh explained, crawling to the back seats and struggling a little.
tyler joined josh in the back shortly after as he unzipped the small bag of items they brought.
"hey, are you okay," josh asked randomly.
"huh," tyler asked, confused.
"you were severly beaten a few days ago and your throat was just slit," the older man pointed out.
"oh! right, yeah i'm doing better i guess. sore. but i'm a little used to it i think, so not too bad," the brunette explained, a slight smile on his face from josh's concern.
"used to it?"
"sorta. brendon and pete liked to use me as a punching bag from time to time," the boy explained with a nervous laugh.
"why?" josh looked closely at the boy, seeing all the bruises and scratches coating his tan skin. it made him sad that someone so nice was used to something so mean. well, tyler wasn't necessarily nice, but he didn't exactly deserve to be beat up.
"um, i uh, well, they just kinda hate me i guess? i don't know." tyler took a deep breath, growing uncomfortable.
"why didn't you fight back?" josh inquired.
