If you asked Eden this time last year how she thought that she would be spending her days, she probably would have said that she would be doing the same thing that she always had, spending her days with Matt and Jeremy as well as occasionally letting the Original Hybrid grace her bed when he was behaving himself. She did not, however, think that she would be running through the woods for the second time this month while some psychopathic hybrid chased her down trying to kill her unborn child. Yet, here Eden was, ducking and dodging tree branches and fallen logs as she tried her damndest not to fall in the dainty slippers she had been wearing last night while clutching the small knife she used to cut herself loose in her hand.
When she felt as though she was far enough away, Eden wrapped her hand around a tree and slammed her back into it. She panted, trying to catch her breath as she listened for the sound of Tyler following behind her. At first, she heard nothing, only the sound of the river from far off and the birds chirping in the trees above her. She sighed, about to come out of hiding when she heard a tree branch snap from about two feet behind her. Eden closed her eyes, steadying her breath as she tried to rationalize what she was about to do; this was for her baby. Opening her eyes, she raised her arm up and turned around, ready to plunge the knife into Tyler when someone caught her by the wrist and held her hand a mere two inches from Jana's forehead. Eden's eyes widened in shock as she glanced to Jana's right and spotted Elijah, whose hand was the one that kept Eden from killing her cousin.
"Jana." Eden breathed out. Jana's eyes were wide as she stared at the knife but as soon as Eden got her bearings together, she dropped the knife and threw her arms around her older cousin.
"Forgive us, we assumed that you needed saving. It appears that that's not the case." Elijah said softly, a small smile on his lips while Eden squeezed Jana to her. When she finally let go she turned to Elijah.
"You will not believe the shit day I've been having." Eden muttered. Jana smiled, though Eden could tell that she was still spooked from almost being scalped by the younger brunette.
"Come on, let's take you home." Elijah said softly, wrapping his arm around the pregnant girl to guide her out of the bayou. But Eden didn't move, which caused both Elijah and Jana to look at her in confusion.
"Wait, there's something that you should know about the baby." Eden told the pair softly. Elijah and Jana exchanged a glance before looking back at Eden.
"What happened?" Jana asked softly. Eden sighed, leaning back against a tree.
"Tyler was the one who took me." She revealed. Elijah raised an eyebrow.
"By Tyler, I'm guessing you mean the Lockwood boy." Eden nodded in confirmation.
Elijah sighed. "I can't say I'm surprised. Of the long list of enemies that Klaus has made, it seems that Tyler is the most recent in vengeful activities."
"What did Klaus do to him?" Jana asked, looking between both Elijah and Eden.
"Well.." Eden started.
"He turned the boy from a werewolf to a hybrid, used Tyler to spy on his friends, kept him away from his girlfriend and killed his mother after Tyler made him kill all of his hybrids in a plot to help the Bennett witch create a new spell." Elijah summarized.
"Klaus killed Carol?" Eden asked, as she had no idea that his mother was dead. Sure, yes Tyler had said that Klaus had taken everything from him but she had no idea to what extent.
"Yes, well Niklaus is nothing if not temperamental and seeing as those hybrids were the only ones he could ever make as Elena Gilbert is now a vampire, he wasn't very happy."
