Different Experiment

Ashley and I had fallen asleep on the same bunk last night after our talk. We cried our hearts out and poured out all our feelings to each other. She was my BFF/sister now, and it was awesome to feel appreciated.

Just then, Davis walked into the room.

"Get up! You have got a busy day ahead of you!" He yelled out like we were a million miles away, but in reality it was only a couple feet of distance. I had a feeling I was going to be deaf by the time I got out of here. If I got out of here.

I got up and walked to the bathroom. The door was closed, so I knocked just to make sure nobody was there.

"WHAT DO YOU WANT MATT!?!?!"

"Good morning Cedric, its Blair. How much longer are you going to take?"

He opened the door to me, his black curls were a knotted mess, he had a gash on the left side of his forehead that was in the process of seeping blood down his face.

"Hey Bla-"

"OH MY GOD! WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU!?"

"What? Oh this... yeah um..."

"Come on Cedric! Spit it out already!"

"I hit my head on the bottom of Matt's bunk when I got up. Those stupid metal things are death traps!"

I giggled a little, he was tall, but I didn't realize he was that tall. He was so tall in fact, I reached is shoulder level standing on my toes. Matt and Ashley were both about the same height, and I went up to their shoulders. Being 4'11" tall, I was minuscule for a fourteen year old.

Twenty minutes later, we were all dressed and bandaged up in some cases. Ashley and I were sitting on the lower bunk on our side of the room chatting. She was like an older sister to me and a best friend to me, and somehow, even in this hellhole, she made me feel normal.

I pinned my long black hair back, just as the guy who, by my guess, is older than dirt came in.

"Hello young subjects." His voice was raspy and horrible to listen to. "Today is day one of experiments!"

He sounded so exited about it, it scared me. I grabbed the arm of the person closest to me. I tensed, realizing it was Matt after the strange look Ashley gave me. I let go, just as four huge men picked us up, and carried us into a very small, very dark room.

"B, B where are you?"she said frantically.

"Ash, Ash I don't know where I am." I responded, hoping she felt blind also.

"OWWWWW!! ASHLEY WATCH WHERE YOU STEP!!!!" Matt screamed, and I couldn't help but giggle.

Out of the darkness, something wound around my ankles, moving up to my arms and torso at lightning speed. I screamed bloody murder just before it covered my mouth. The last thing I heard was Ashley screaming my name before I fell to the ground.
