Narrator's POV
(Zara)

She fought like hell from the moment her three captors broke into her home, only to surrender when one of the three started making his way upstairs where her girls slept. She's not one to give up easily, but the mom in her only thought about protecting her kids because God knows she wouldn't know what to do with herself if she lost another child

They threw her against the wall of the dark room, her hands bound behind her back and a gag over her mouth to keep her from screaming too loudly. There was blood draining down her forehead from the struggle earlier and an intense pain in her stomach, though she knew the bruises he'd inflected were much more severe than her own

They'd spent hours roughly interrogating her, wanting information on the assignment she took right after her son's death. To be honest she only went to the middle east to get away from the pain she felt each time she woke without her little boy's smile. She wanted to distance herself from humanity why she went off alone, and bottling her emotions only ended up destroying her relationship with the man who's been by her side since she was twelve years old, but luckily for her he was loyal, and stood by her through the ups and downs

They slapped her, punched her, and kicked her repeatedly but still she hadn't uttered a single word. It wasn't until they'd mentioned the names of her daughters and son that she'd completely lost it. The bound woman who was a former special forces operative practically spaced out as she attacked the men head on. She used her feet that were free to brutally stomp her captors, and in her blind rage she'd manage to injure both Sam and Callen who were the first to breach the building. It was only when she heard his voice she stopped "Marty" she called

"I'm here princess, and you're safe" Deeks replied as she rushed to her aid, freeing her of her restraints before pulling her into a hug which caused the brunette nothing but pain "I'm sorry, let's get you out of here" said Deeks before picking her up in his arms. Her head resting in the crook of his neck as he carried her out of the building, and into the waiting ambulance

"I could have walked" said Zara, in her heavy Indian accent

"Most people go with thank you, and your getting checked out by a doctor" he informed, giving her no time to argue.

The paramedics rushed her to the hospital, where she stayed almost three hours before being released against medical advice. In all honesty, she was fine and didn't want to be away from her daughters for another moment

Though Zara was still painful, she was happy to join Kate and the NCIS team at the office of special projects

"Mama" The twins yelled in unison the moment they caught sight of their smiling mother

"Munchkins, mommy's never been happier to see you two" said Zara as she repeatedly kissed both their cheeks "I love you both so very much" she told them, making the pair erupt with laughter with her very ticklish kisses

Kate: Not to ruin your moment, but how'd you find the strength to knock out three armed assailants and injure two very strong federal agents while injured and bound? I know your tough, but that's a lot even for you

"They threatened my girls, that rose a blinding anger, and in my blind rage I hurt those two which I'm still so terribly sorry for" she apologized once more

"It's okay, our pride may be what took most of the bruising, but we'll be fine as long as we never talk about this again." Said Callen

Sam: Agreed. You most definitely live up to your reputation, and it was a pleasure meeting you both even though we never got this one's name

Kate: I'm sorry about that. I'm NYPD detective Katherine Beckett, Marty's sister and this one is his wife FBI Supervisory special agent in charge, Zara Chopra-Deeks

"Ex-wife" the former couple spoke in unison

Kate: they had a very amicable divorce, so amicable that their still the best of friends

"Well Ex or not I have no clue why he'd leave you two in New York to play cop in LA" said Callen

"He hasn't been back to New York since our son's funeral and we understand his reasons. At the time he was our only child, and I had a strong bond with him which was still incomparable to the bond he had with his dad. They did everything together, he was Marty's whole world and the day he died was the worst day of our lives" said Zara, who tried her best to keep her voice from cracking "We grieved differently, it's what ended up coming between us, but like Kate said he's still my best friend. It's been Deeks and I since I moved to the united states with my parents at age twelve"

"I'm sorry I brought it up" said Callen "And I'm sorry for your loss"

"It's okay, I'm positive he's never brought it up, so there no way you could have known, and we have these two little munchkins that fill our lives with an endless amount of joy, so we're okay" she assured them

Callen: did you ever find out why you were targeted?

"After our son's death I went to the middle east with a small team, but before I knew the details of the case I was sent home. I found out I was pregnant and I couldn't risk injuring my baby, well babies as you can so clearly see" Zara explained "I honestly haven't the slightest idea what they wanted to know"

Callen: well whatever it is it's probably best they didn't find out

Nell: Agreed. You leaving so soon Kens?

"Yeah. I haven't seen my mom in eight weeks, and Hetty gave us the rest of the week off so I'm gonna spend some time with her" Kensi lied, she honestly just wanted to escape, clear her head

Deeks: Let me walk you out

"I'm a big girl, I can find my car just fine on my own" She spat, much angrier than she'd intended to "Goodnight guys" she spoke in a more pleasant tone before heading out. Deeks knew why she was so angry, and she had every right to be, but he didn't want her storming away before he had a chance to explain

Deeks: I'll be right back

He spoke to Zara before following his partner out into the parking lot. She was already making her way out of the lot, it was only when he watched as she wiped away a tear before speeding away that he realized how much not telling her about his family had affected her. She was hurt, and he was determined to fix it
