Davy sets the last box into Mikes truck, wiping his forehead immediately after he had done so. Pete, Davy, Mike and I have been hard at work for a solid two hours.
I untie the bandana in my hair, letting the brown waves fall over my shoulders, I ball it up and throw it to Davy who uses it to wipe his whole face off, and then passes it to Pete, who does the same.
Mike appears from inside the house with his jacket and sunglasses on. He struts over to his truck and glances at Davy and Pete. I follow Mike over and stand by Pete, leaning on him ever so slightly. Mike stares at Pete and I for a second, then averts his gaze to the ground.
"After we git these things back to Mags' house, I say we should go for dinner." Pete's face lights up at this.
"Sounds good to me. Reds Diner?"
"Why do we only go to diners. I say we go to Charcoals. That place is fancy." Davy pipes up.
I shift uncomfortably."I'm not sure, I'm trying to save money from moving and-" Mike shrugs.
"I'll cover you Maggie, don't worry about it."
"I couldn't- you guys go. I'll just stay." Mike crosses his arms and shakes his head stubbornly.
"You're coming and I'm paying. That's final." I frown but nod my head, and when Mike and I are in the cab of the truck, Davy and Pete hop in the back. We drop the stuff off at my small rental place in Malibu and before I know it, we're at the restaurant.
I took my friend 221Charcoal's name without asking her whoops 😂 go check out they're books! They're seriously amazing and I love them very much (especially 'Hero' that book makes me very emotional)
