I just want to be like my hero

"Are you Victor?" A short, blonde, female asked me.

"Yes, I am." I respond.

"Well, I am Mary Jane. I am new here."

"Nice to meet you." I say while I shake her hand.

"Want to hang out after school? I am trying to make friends."

"Sure, but at four I need to be at the hospital." I tell her.

"A follow-up?" She asked signaling to my wheelchair.

"No, to see my girlfriend."

"Oh." She said disappointed.

"She has been in there for a couple of months." I say sadden.

She grabbed my arm then wrote her number.

"Met me at 'The Peace cafe'." She tells me in a commanding voice.

She then walked off. I then wheeled off to get lunch, I got a pizza and apple juice. I rolled to the table with Kat and Andy.

"Who was that girl you were talking to? You better not be cheating on Tink while she is in comma? " Kat said pointing her plastic knife at me.

"Her name is Mary Jane, she is new here and trying to make friends." I respond.

"I heard she.. well has some stuff and makes boys her submissive." Andy says.

"Really?" I ask sarcastically.

"Her brother warned me. She is trouble. Also eat, child." Andy says serious.

"I do not want to eat. Pizza was Tink's favorite." I say depressed.

"You won't eat any meat because Tink was against it, you won't eat fruit because it is sweet like her, you won't eat veggies because she use to act like a bunny when she ate them, and you won't eat pizza because it was her favorite." Kat states.

I just rolled away, but Andy grabbed the handles.

"You are going to eat." Kat says picking up my pizza and hands it to me.

"How much weight have you lost, since the you got out the hospital?" Andy asked.

"I do not know I can not stand on a scale." I tell him signaling my lack of legs.

"Well, if you are not going to eat we are going to go to the nurse to check your weight." Andy tells me while he pushes me to the nurse.

I did not fight, I just dealt with having no control. I am just a terrified sixteen year old in a nineteen year old body. I haven't had any control in a while.

When we got to the nurse Andy explained his worry, so they picked me up and sat me on her scale. I have lost 15 pounds since the hospital from not eating. The nurse explained why I need to eat , but I only heard half of it. I was numb to people at this point, the only person I care about is my love. Tink.

After school I went to 'The Peace cafe'. Mary Jane had a gleeful smile on her face.

"You made it!" She says cheerful.

"Yeah." I respond

"Why so gloomy?" Sounding less cheerful.

"I miss Tink."

"Your girlfriend?"

"Yeah." I said on the verge of tears.

"Do you want something to make you feel better?"

"Anything."

She hands me some pills from her backpack.

"What are these?"

"They are like Novocaine except make you feel numb to emotional pain." She explained.

"I am not sure if I should take them."

"You said 'Anything'"

I looked at them and popped them in.
