Young Justice Season 5 - The Fifth Generation

Agent 37 shaded his eyes as he looked up at the top of the parking building, "he's up there." Then he turned to face his team, "stay down here."

"But--"

"I'll be fine, don't worry." He assured them as he headed in with his gun ready at hand.

After a short elevator ride up to the top, he slowly stepped out into the darkness of the empty parking garage. There was nothing until someone ran in, someone with a trail of lightning following behind.

Agent 37 smirked to himself, "Inertia. What a surprise."

"And who are you?"

"I'm Agent 37, a leader of the Bludhaven police force. You know, you're causing a bit of a racket in my city, so we're going to have to bring you in for questioning."

"I have no business with the police." Inertia crossed his arms.

"Well, if you're inside the city boundaries, then you do by default."

"How disappointing. I was hoping to have a run-in with the infamous Nightwing that lurks around here. Ever heard of him?"

Agent 37 shrugged, "here and there. You know, if you're looking for a superhero that 'lurks', I don't think you'll be finding him in the daytime."

"You're right." Inertia tapped his chin, "I guess I can have some fun with you while I'm waiting." He ran off, then came back, and with him was someone tied to a chair, "you see, I picked her up on the way here. I'm sure you've met Commissioner Gordon if you're in the police force."

"B-Barbara Gordon..." Agent 37 swallowed hard, "you think that girl will bring Nightwing out? She's not even from here."

"Yes, but I've read that this is one of his many 'lady loves'." Inertia grabbed Barbara's cheeks and chuckled, "I guess we're going to have to wait for your boyfriend, eh 'Babs'?"

Agent 37 clenched his fists, "you know, he's not coming."

Dick... Barbara watched his every move.

"Really?"

"Like I said, he only comes out at night." Dick shrugged, "what can you do? Oh, I've also got some reinforcements outside. You're not going anywhere."

"Oh really?" Inertia rose a brow, "you know, I get the feeling you're not really part of the police force. You're going to have to prove it."

"Well, you can look." Agent 37 gestured over the edge of the building, "my team is down there."

"Hmph..." Inertia looked over and scoffed, "no badge."

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a badge, "Right here."

"You idiot, who are you?"

"My name?" He laughed, "my name is Dick Grayson, but you can call me Agent 37."

"Sounds stupid."

"Yeah, I guess you can't count that far, can you?"

"Shut your trap!" Inertia yelled and pulled out a gun, "I don't normally use this, but you're not worth all my energy."

"Heh."

Inertia fired multiple shots, but Agent 37 tumbled out of the way and dodged them swiftly as he ran out of the way each time. He  pulled out his own gun and shot multiple shots at Inertia, who dodged them as well. When he wasn't thinking, he reached into his bag and pulled out a birdarang.

"Ah."

Agent 37 cringed, Crap...

"Nightwing. You are such an idiot." Inertia dropped the gun, "I should've known."

"So. Let me ask you." Agent 37 sighed, "where's Bart?"

"Having a blast back at my place." Inertia laughed, "speaking of blast... I wouldn't do that if I were you." He grabbed Barbara's chair, turned her around, and pulled out what looked like a detonator, "I've got a bomb here. If you make another move, your Batgirl blows into bits."

"Get out of here, Dick!" Barbara yelled, "forget me!"

"You can't go calling me an idiot if you're one yourself. That also makes you a hypocrite, you know. That makes you twice as bad as me."

"Will you ever learn to shut up?" Inertia shook his head as his thumb hovered over the button, "why don't I silence you for a while?"

Wow, this went by way faster than I thought... "Hey, Wallman. You there?"

"On it." Wally replied, and when he did, he sent out a message, "I just sent Jet out with Wonder Girl, Speedy, Night Owl, and Beast Boy. They're headed there now."

"Thanks." Agent 37 turned his attention back to Inertia. Gotta stall. "So, you think you can bring the team down if you killed Barbara or even me? That's not happening. I'm just the cornerstone of the team. I helped form this team. You can beat me, break me, and kill me. But you will never break their willpower and strength."

Inertia laughed, "ha! You sound so confident! So let's see if that confidence really is as strong as you think."

Agent 37 dropped everything and started running towards them just as the thumb came down on the red trigger.

"You idiots! What makes you think after all you've--"

"Nuh-uh." Wally shook his head, "that wasn't me."

"Then..." Nightwing and Jet turned to look at the speedster, "you?"

"I know it's hard to believe." The brunette stepped forward, "but I have a plan."
