69| Dancing in the moonlight.

'Dancing in the moonlight- Toploader' was blasting from my phone as me and Luke drunkenly danced on the sand.

After or conversation, we went to the shop and bought some beers (thankfully the cashier didn't ask for ID) and brought them back to the beach. We had three each by now, and we're dancing to this song, laughing as I was trying to teach him to slow dance.

"You're supposed to move your feet too!" I chuckled, nudging his leg so he would move.

"It's harder than it looks!" He defended himself as he wobbled, holding my waist tighter so he wouldn't fall.

"You're useless at this." I laughed, pulling away and getting myself another bottle, holding it as I swayed my hips to the same song. I sang along to the chorus, pointing at him for a moment before continuing my bad dancing.

I was wearing a long sleeved grey jumper and some jeans, as I wasn't expecting to come to the beach at early hours in the morning, getting wasted and dancing to throwback songs.

'Fuck you- ceelo green' came on and we cheered, singing along and giving one another the middle finger each time it swears. Singing louder, we practically screamed the lyrics, pretending to be on stage, like Luke has done so many times. Once this song ended, we collapsed into the sand, still laughing at previous events.

"What's it like? Playing on stage in front of thousands of people?" I asked, taking the last swig of my bottle and throwing it with the others, now having that as my last drink of the night.

"Honestly... It's how I want the rest of my life... it's-it's... god it's astonishing... if we ever do our own tour, I'm dragging you on with us, just so you know how it feels. It's like- god I can't describe it." He smiled out, looking into the same ocean we had just been dancing too. I chuckled at his response, now thinking about what it's like.

"Sounds amazing." I turned my head to him, showing my teeth in appreciation.

"It really is, especially when the fans know who you are, and they sing along. It's so amazing." He took another drink of his beer, smiling at a memory I wasn't in, remembering a moment like he had just described.

Sitting in the same spot, we played a game where we hummed a song and the other person guessed it, even though music was still playing in the background.

"Luke!" I gasped, having a sudden realisation.

"What? What's up?" He snapped his head, concern waving over him like the sea in front of us.

"I never told you..." I paused as his expression turned to confusion, his eyebrows furrowing. "What I thought of the song." I finished, letting him into my thoughts. He now understood and widened his eyes in realisation, his face reddening with each breath. "Why do you look like you're about to throw up on me?" I questioned, placing a hand on his shoulder.

"I'm nervous. This is the first song I wrote alone. I don't want you to hate it." He mumbled, his cheeks turning to crimson, causing me to poke them and giggle, thinking his awkwardness was adorable.

"I loved it. No ones ever done something like that for me. Thank you." I pecked his cheek, showing my appreciation and thanks as I watched into his, noticing them widen for a moment.

"This shit is bananas! B-A-N-A-N-A-S!" We Shrieked, singing along to 'Hollaback girl- Gwen stafani' as we walked along the sand, still not leaving the beach even though it was now 3:24 am. Not one thought of Jack crossed my mind since midnight, and I was glad, he really pissed me off and isn't what I needed right now.

Luke and I were now singing to each sing until our throats hurt, where we decided to walk to wherever the streets took us and do whatever we wanted.

Arriving at a Subway, we ordered some food then sat down on the pavement outside, not caring if we looked homeless. I crossed me legs over one another as Luke sat to my right, mindlessly eating his sandwich. "Does food get caught in your lip ring? Like, does it make it harder to eat?" I questioned, not being able to take my gaze from it.

"No, I kind forget it's their sometimes." He spoke, his lips moving up and down with his lip ring, which he unconsciously drew his tongue across. I nodded, ripping my view away and back to my sandwich, taking my first bite.

"It's not weird that I read books is it?" I inquire, a self conscious feeling flowing through me.

"What? Books? Hell no, it's awesome. I love that you still read books, not always on your phone or watching TV. I wish I liked books more but I can never read over a chapter." He replied, slight stern in his throat. "Why? Who said it was weird?" He asked, slowing down so his pace matched mine.

"Jack. I was reading on the pouch and he laughed at me, saying no one read anymore." I frowned, now realising how stupid his words were. Luke tugged on my wrist, dropping it as soon as I whimpered, and rested his forehead against mine, taking a deep breath before saying, "I know I normally ask, but-" and with that his lips pressed onto mine, his lip ring freezing against my skin, sending goosebumps down my body.

He silently asked for permission for his tongue to enter my mouth, but instead of granting it, I pulled back; staring at him as we both panted. "Luke-I can't- It's not fair..." I muttered, stepping back slowly as we were only a minute away from Sheela's.

"but, Jacks such a Dick and he doesn't deserve you." He placed his right hand on my cheek and briefly pressed his lips to mine before I pushed him back lightly and shook my head.

"You're drunk. Stop. I don't like how you're acting." I admitted, keeping my hands firm in his chest so he couldn't make another move.

"Well... have you ever heard the quote 'Drunk Words Are Sober Thoughts' hm?" He smirked, staying still though. I sighed and rolled my eyes, showing him I was fed up. "I'm sorry, I didn't realise you still had feelings for him. I thought you were over."  His gaze dropped to the floor as he placed his hands over mine and moved them off his chest, walking forward towards Sheela's.

We opened the door and Sheela was reading on the couch with a cup of tea in hand, assumingly waiting for me to get back. I peered around the house and saw no other body present, confused as to where he was. Sheela passed me a piece of paper and sighed, standing up and going to her bedroom. I opened the folded piece of paper and read it, Luke glancing over my shoulder to do the same.

'This isn't working, we're both not happy. I don't know why I didn't tell you when I started liking Chelsea, instead of dragging this out for no reason. I guess I didn't want to make you sad. I hope you get better, if you're ever in L.A and wanna come over, you know where I live.
                                                                                                                     -Jack x'

I sighed and crumpled the paper in my hand, throwing it in the bin and walking to my room, sinking into my sheets and drowning myself into the bed, hoping it would suffocate me. "Can I come in?" Luke asked, hovering in the doorway, waiting for my answer as his silhouette shivered.

"D'you not want to see your family?" I hugged, pulling the duvet to my chin as I took my socks off under the sheets. He sank down next to me and pulled my body closer to his, so my back pressed again his chest.

"It's too early." He answered, letting out a deep breath against my neck before drifting to sleep, his light snores helping me.
