*Saihara's POV*"Kaede, h-hey!" I shouted. Kaede had stolen my hat and I was starting to freak out a little. I was scared of making eye contact with people, and without my hat, I might make eye contact and then have a breakdown because I think that people were judging me. So yeah, I needed to get my hat back.
I don't know why Kaede had a sudden fascination of me not wearing my hat. She is the only person I can make eye contact with without completely freaking out. Maybe it was because she had seen me without my hat the day before and decided I was better off without it. I don't know, and I'm a detective.
*Kaede's POV*
I was being chased by Saihara because I'd stolen his hat. I was laughing, but truth be told, I didn't feel like laughing. I had been told why he wore the hat and had even seen what happened when he made contact with multiple people he didn't know. But I didn't want him to feel like he was being judged by everyone around him.
One time he made eye contact with Ouma, Kaito, Iruma and Maki (who were all in quite foul moods at the time) all at once and ran to his room because he was about to have a breakdown and didn't want everyone see it happen. I ran after him by instinct that time. I found him sitting on his bed, with his head in his hands, sobbing and shaking violently. He'd even forgotten to lock the door. So then, I walked over to him and hugged him. Because he was sitting slumped and I was standing, his head ended up resting on my stomach, but I didn't mind. I had slid down next to him by that point and hugged him like he was a child. Whenever one of us was upset and crying, we would forget that we were friends and would just hug. But when the breakdowns happen, he sobs so hard that he can't breathe properly. I hate it when it happens. When we all first met, Iruma declared that only perverts wore hats. Saihara, who at the time seemed very quiet and unreliable, had an outburst of anger where he yelled at Iruma and made her shrink away because she thought he was a coward. He helped me. So I wanted to help him.
*Saihara's POV*
I was starting to get out of breath by that point and I had a searing stitch in my side. My breathing had quick and shallow. That was one sign that a break down might start (that, or I was just out of breath). Kaede showed no sign of slowing down. I was running so fast that my legs didn't know how to stop. So fast that I had tripped over my own feet. I tumbled over and over, yelling out as I fell. When I stopped tumbling, Kaede stopped and dashed over to my side. My vision was blurry and I kept swimming in and out of consciousness. I could feel a warm liquid running over my forehead and arms. Blood. I then felt a hand on my back lifting me upright and taking my jacket off. The blood must have bled through my jacket, running over the concrete floor. "Shuichi! Shuichi! Speak to me!" Kaede yelled at me, her eyes glazed over with tears. I drowsily half-opened my eyes and looked into her eyes. And then I lost consciousness.
*3 hours later*
I woke up in my room and looked around, confused as to how I got there. I was chasing Kaede because she stole my hat, wasn't I? Ah, that was right, I fell over and lost consciousness. As I looked round, I saw Kaede sitting in a chair next to my bed, looking extremely worried and guilty. "Shuichi..." she whispered. "I'm sorry I took your hat. I just... you helped me with my problem about the pictures and... and I wanted to help you..." she looked down, like a child who got caught doing something wrong. All I did was held my arms out to hug her. She looked up and immediately nestled her face into my shoulder. I then realised I wasn't wearing my jacket. I figured Kaede had picked it up, so I forgot about it as I hugged Kaede, being mindful that my arms and forehead were wrapped in bandages. Kaede wasn't crying but I could feel that she wanted to. She had her teeth clenched, her eyes screwed shut and she was gasping for breath every so often. I lifted her face up and kissed her.
Then we heard the door open loudly.
Kaede leaped off of my chest and sat back into her chair, her face starting to blush a bright red. Kirumi Tojo walked in. " Oh, you're awake, Saihara-kun. How are you feeling?" She asked calmly. "O-oh, I'm fine thanks." I stuttered, worried that we had been caught. Tojo wasn't the type of person to go and tell everyone, but if she had seen us then that was embarrassing on its own.
(I MADE IT LONG AGAIN I'M SORRY FORGIVE MEEEE)
