Donovan was a renaissance man. He was athletic. He wrote poetry and painted. And he was a successful business owner who ran just as many women as he did businesses.

His clean-shaven babyface and smooth chocolate skin usually got him whatever he wanted from a woman. But, when necessary, he would "stare into her soul" with coal black eyes framed by long, dark lashes.

Yes, Donovan was definitely attractive  and could smooth-talk his way out of just about any and every sticky situation. And had. His belief was there were too many women out there to be stressed over one. Truth be told, he'd rather be the one doing the stressing than being stressed.

As he walked out of the door of his office, he glanced at his watch.

"Shit, I'm late", he mumbled to himself. He jogged to his black Range Rover and hopped in.

As soon as he started the engine, the radio blasted old school hip hop. Bobbing his head, Donovan pulled off and let his mind drift to the young woman he was going to meet.

Lana was a beauty, no doubt. To be honest, Donovan couldn't even remember why he quit messing with her. She was fine. Her body was phenomenal. She was smart, funny, could hold an intelligent conversation.....

"Damn", Donovan thought, "why did I leave her alone"?

He pictured Lana's full lips and amber eyes. He remembered the way the flecks of gold would sparkle when she was in the throes of passion. He remembered how her hips would sway beneath her barely-there hemlines. A smirk touched the corner of his mouth as he suddenly remembered why they stopped hooking up.

A phone call or text, Donovan couldn't remember which, during certified booty call hours. He was sleeping hard that night and didn't catch it before Lana did. Long story short, a conversation between a side chick wanting to be the main chick and Lana thinking she was the only chick. Needless to say, the spot was blown.

He pictured the hurt on Lana's face when he explained that he thought they were just "kickin' it" and he wasn't ready to be committed to one woman. He even went so far as to blame Lana for getting her feelings involved when they never had a "real" label in the first place. It wasn't the first time he had given that speech, but it was definitely the first time he had ever felt any guilt behind it.

"I can smooth that over. I mean, if she reaching out to me, she must want that old thang back. Yeah, I can smooth this out fo' sho", he chuckled to himself.

Donovan pressed the gas a little harder as he anticipated what might be in store for him.
