This is loosely based off my Lashton one-shot "Luke's Flowerboy" but this one is going to be better.

==========================================================================================(Joey's POV)
I'm twirling flower stems together as my beautiful punk boyfriend comes through the back door, his cell phone pressed against his ear. I lift my hand to wave to him but I lower it as I listen in on what he's saying. "Huh? I don't know how he knows my name, maybe it's because I'm so popular. And he knows better than to ever speak toward me, that little flower f**." I gasp, my eyes filling with tears at his words. Slinging a few more insults about me to whoever's on the other line, Daniel hangs up the phone. He meets my tear-filled gaze and runs toward me, attempting to pull me in his arms. "Joey please listen to me!" Pushing him away, I scream "GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME! LEAVE ME ALONE! STOP!" He backs away, his hands up in surrender. "Joey, please, just listen to me. I can explain!" Wiping the heavy stream of tears away, I shake my head "I don't want to hear it. Hell, I think I've heard enough from you."
Tears blur my vision as I throw random outfits into my suitcase. "Please, Joey, don't go. I'm sorry!" "You're sorry? YOU'RE SORRY? You called me that fucking disgusting slur and all you have to say is that you're sorry? You can burn in hell Daniel. I never knew you felt that way about me." I feel his hand rest on my shoulder "I don't! I never did. What you heard...it was taken out of context." I brush his hand off "out of context? No, I know exactly what had happened. I should've known this was too good to be true. You ask me out on a date randomly one day, ask me to move in a month later, never acknowledge me during school hours. Guess I should've known this was nothing but a scam." Zipping up the suitcase, I make my way out of the room.
Closing the door behind me, I pause. I have nowhere to go. My parents disowned me once I told them I was moving in with Daniel, I left all of my friends for Daniel. But at the same time, there is no way I am turning around now. I refuse to let him believe he can call me that horrible word and all can be forgiven with a simple apology. Looks like I'm gonna be bouncing from motel to motel.
The next day at school was brutal. Everyone knew about mine and Daniel's breakup, so naturally, they blamed it all on me and started to come after me for breaking his heart. No, they didn't physically abuse me, but they did say horrible and disgusting things while ripping up my flower crowns. While this was all happening, I noticed Daniel just standing in the back of the crowd, his face stoic, covering any crack of emotion.
As I was laying on a dusty bed in my new motel room, I realized something. Maybe, just maybe, Daniel said all of those things, because of the way I present myself. Maybe, if I change what I wear, he'll really apologize. And we can be together again. Sorting through my seemingly endless stack of rainbow shirts and colorful pants, I feel the last remaining sense of hope drip away. Of course, I don't have any other shirts, I'm known for my colorful personality. I thought that's what Daniel liked about me.
I never thought I'd be in this section of Target. All of the dark clothing staring back at me, each one darker than the last. This is what Daniel likes? Pulling out a black shirt, I measure it up against my chest, staring at my reflection. This isn't me. But I guess I'm going to have to adjust to this. Adjust to the way Daniel loves. Black on black. A long sigh escapes my lips as I put three shirts in my cart, adding three pairs of dark jeans. I pass by my normal section and shudder, this is for the best. This is for Daniel.
The cashier was nice. She complimented me on my flower crown. But I could still see the pity in her eyes as she scanned each of the new black shirts. "Can I ask you something, Sir? You don't have to answer if it makes you feel uncomfortable in any way." I nod, she continues. "Why are you doing this? I can see how tense you are just putting this stuff on the belt. You seem so comfortable in the clothing you're in now, isn't that who you are?" "It is." She frowns "then why are you doing this?" "I just need a change." Putting the clothing in a bag, the cashier gives me a sympathetic smile "have a good day sir. I hope everything works out."
