"What the heck was that!" Eloise asked, worriedly.

I was still shaking as she led me away from Lukas and Kaiyan. "I have no idea" I replied, trying to steady my hands.

Eloise glanced over her shoulder and cursed. "You'd think you just killed all of his family and he was going Batman on you" she said.

"Eloise, now is not the time for jokes, I almost died!" I exclaimed.

She led me into the bathroom and I turned the tap on, pressing cold hands to my face. "I could feel all the breath leave my body" I said, pushing back my hair.

"We should tell someone, the principal!" Eloise exclaimed.

"No! God I'd hate to think of what he would do to me if we told on him" I said, turning to face her.

"We can't let him get away with this Avery" she said, putting her hands on her hips.

"He's not, we're just putting it on pause until I can breathe again" I said.

She gave me a sad look. I leaned back on the wall and sighed breathing in and out.

During that time, the bell rang. I groaned in frustration. I dropped my hands from my face and picked up my bag that I had thrown on the ground.

"Come on, I have to go to class" Eloise said, linking her arm through mine.

We emerged from the bathroom into the bustling crowds that hurried to their classes. I bumped shoulders with a bunch of people before finally bidding goodbye to Eloise at her classroom door.

I walked into my classroom. "Good afternoon Miss Jenkins" my teacher said.

"Sorry I'm late, got caught up" I said.

He nodded. "Make sure you're on time next time Miss Jenkins" he said.

I nodded and made my way to the seat. "Mr Paxton, make sure you are on time as well please" my teacher said.

My head shot up and Lukas walked into class. The whole class was staring at him as he fixed his leather jacket. His eyes met mine and his mouth turned up into a sadistic grin.

"Sorry, got caught up" he replied, curling his lip at me.

My teacher frowned but waved him on. I glared at him as he walked past me, he brushed my elbow roughly and I scowled.
He fell into the seat behind me, the chair legs scraping on the ground.

I glared at the white board as students filled up the classroom. "Avery" a voice said.

I looked up to see one of my closest friends, sit next to me. Kylie and I had mothers who were good friends.
They attended the same social club and both of our mothers were very set on marrying us off before we graduated.

"Hey" I said turning to look at her.

"How are you? I haven't seen you at the club lately" she said putting her books on the desk.

"Oh I'm great, I got sick and tired of hearing my mother name lists of possible suitors" I said, grimacing.

"Yeah my mother has been very bossy about that lately, she even took me ring shopping and I don't even have a boyfriend" she said shaking her curly black hair.

I chuckled. "Well mum hasn't gone that extreme but she's given me a portfolio for every suitable man in this damn city that I could marry" I said.
