05. N O T H I N G

Aaron hadn't been at the beach for four days. He had kissed me and then fallen off of the face of the earth; good start.

When I turned up to the beach on the fifth day- with my surfboard under my arm like usual- Aaron had returned. He was lounging against his same rock, writing in his same notebook like he hadn't been M.I.A for most of the week.

I cleared my throat as I got closer to Aaron. The brunet looked up to me and removed his headphones.

"Caleb," he spoke as he stood up, dusting the sand from his shorts. "I'm sorry about the other day. I don't know what came over me."

He was looking at me with guilty eyes, looking completely sincere with his apology.

"Don't worry about it," I smiled softly. "Besides, I didn't mind it."

If Aaron's eyes widened any more they would have fallen straight out of his head. And with that I turned on my heels and continued towards the sea, leaving Aaron to get over what had just happened.

On Saturday morning I woke up with one hell of a headache.

The events of last night came rushing back to me at once. Aaron had kissed me again, while Lindy was helping Noelle. If I hadn't pulled away Aaron probably would have tried to take it further. Although he was supposedly in a committed relationship with Lindy- and had been for the last year and a half, even though that didn't prevent him from cheating- he tried to kiss me again.

Was Aaron still into me?

"Dude, I thought you'd died for a minute," Grayson spoke, hovering over me with a glass of water.

When I could finally get my eyes to focus I took the glass from Grayson. I also noticed that Emily and Evan had decided to sit on the top bunk of Evan and Gray's shared bed to watch me suffer the consequences of last night's events.

"Are you going to throw up?" Emily asked.

"No," I croaked back, drinking some water from the glass as Grayson forced some aspirin into my hand as well.

"Did you screw Aaron?" Evan asked.

I stared at him, drinking some more water. "Yes Evan," I deadpanned, "I screwed Aaron in the middle of a club right next to his girlfriend."

Evan nodded his head, "nice."

Emily, Grayson and I looked at him with the same 'what is wrong with you?' expression.

"Moving on..." Grayson dragged. "What did you get up to last night? You came home absolutely wasted."

I sat up, grimacing at the pain in my head as I did so. "Noelle just kept buying shots," I told him, because that was honestly the only answer for the state I was in; my hangover had nothing to do with Aaron.

After Emily and Evan were satisfied with my suffering they had decided to occupy their time doing something else. Emily had gone to Facetime a friend from Florida and Evan wanted to play on his Xbox in the lounge as our parents had both gone out for an event at Dad's work.

Grayson had also left for a while- he wanted to find a good sandwich shop in Brooklyn- which gave me some time to try to regain my senses, shower, and stop feeling like actual death.

"Cay, I bought you a sandwich," Gray announced loudly, way too loudly.

"Thanks."

He then dropped onto the bottom bunk of the two beds and leant back against the wall. "Now you can tell me how last night actually went."
