Chapter 12: The Chunin Exams

(Y/n) walked up the stairs as Sasuke and Naruto waited out on the streets. She knocked on the door and waited. "Ah (Y/n)! What brings you here!" Mebuki, Sakura's mother, said as she opened the door. "I was going to make breakfast at my place and wanted to see if Sakura wanted to come!" (Y/n) said with a smile. "Oh, she'll love too! I'll go get her," the blonde woman soon left the Genin's sight. Soon, she was greeted by the sight of a certain pinkette. "Hey, Sakura! I'm making breakfast at my place! Wanna tag along?" the Genin smiled again. "No, I have other things to do," Sakura stated bluntly. "O-Oh, okay. I'l' se-" she began to say her goodbye but Sasuke interrupted, catching both girls' attention. "The food is getting warm, any longer and they will start to spoil," he stated from the base of the stairs. "Oh right! See ya later, Haruno!" (Y/n) ran down the stairs. 'W-Wait!" Sakura called, "I guess I could do those things later," she hesitated. "Oh, that's great! Come on!" (Y/n) smiled.

"Aaaaaand... Done!" the small Hatake beamed as she put the final touches on the eggs. (Y/n) set the plates full of food. "I'm gonna go get Papa!" (Y/n) said as she disappeared into the hallway. Naruto quickly reached for the food until Sakura slapped his hand. "Naruto! Don't you know it's rude to eat before everybody gets here!" Sakura scolded. Soon Kakashi appeared in a sleeveless shirt that had a masked attached to it and shorts. His hair was messy seeing how he had five more minutes of sleep. "Morning Sensei!" Sakura yelled startling Kakashi, who didn't see the three other Genin sitting at the table. "Alright time to eat!" (Y/n) yelled as she ran out of the hallway. Everybody quickly began eating, Sasuke taking a big bite out of the toast, seeing as how (Y/n) added extra tomatoes for him. "Wow! It's so good!" Naruto praised as Sakura and Sasuke nodded in agreement. Kakashi sat there not taking a single bite. (Y/n) glanced over at him and their gazes met. The girl nodded at her father as she stood up. "O-Oh no..." (Y/n) said as tears formed in her eyes. The other three became alerted and looked at the direction of (Y/n)'s gaze. "W-What's wrong (Y/n)?" Naruto hesitantly asked as the three looked out the window. "Look at the pretty bird!" she said with a goofy smile. The others deadpanned at her as a bead of sweat rolled down. As soon as the others sat back down at the table Kakashi stood up. "Huh, Sensei? Why are you leaving?" Sakura questioned. 'I'm done with my food" he answered simply. The three took a look at his plates and didn't see a trace of food. "How'd you...?" Naruto trailed off. "The food was great," Kakashi smiled at his daughter. (Y/n) beamed. "I hope so!"

"How is it that Sensei is late?! We were just with him an hour ago!" Sakura huffed annoyed. (Y/n) stood next to Sasuke as they waited for the silver-haired jonin. And Naruto just walked around impatiently, occasionally glaring at Sasuke. "Well... Good morning, everyone..." Kakashi greeted. "You're late," (Y/n) pouted. "Sorry, I got lost," Kakashi excused shamelessly. "Hey!" Naruto and Sakura yelled in sync, both irritated at the man. "Say, say! Kakashi-sensei! Group Seven always has the easy missions lately!" Naruto stated, "Aren't there other more exciting missions where I can be more active, where I can use my Way of the Ninja and my soul, dattebayo!" Naruto was getting overly fired up, literally. "Oh yes, yes, yes... I understand what you are trying to say," Kakashi tried to back away. Naruto quickly looked back and glared at Sasuke, ticking Sakura off in the process. 'Shoot! He's always making me indebted to him and making himself look good during our missions. I won't lose, no way!' Naruto raged on. 'Today for sure!' The three glared at each other. "Oi! Let's go!" (Y/n) called. Their attention turned to the two who were already walking away. "H-Hey wait for us!"

The four Genin walked around a garden plucking out weeds from the ground. "Geez... The lady was motivated to plant her own garden, why can't she just do this..." (Y/n) mumbled as he pouted. "Stop sulking" Sakura scolded her. "I'm not gonna lose to Sasuke!" Naruto motivated himself under his breath. He began plucking out every plant he could see. Soon, there was no sign of anything green in the garden. "N-Naruto..." (Y/n), along with everybody else deadpanned at the knucklehead as he chuckled in, what seemed to be, victory. "Hey you," a female voice called. Naruto turned around and saw the lady who hired them. "Oh, Mrs! I've gotten rid of all of the weeds!" Naruto grinned from ear to ear. "Those weren't weeds... Those are the herbs I grew in my garden!" the woman exclaimed. The woman swung at Naruto only to be blocked by the one and only (Y/n). The girl looked the woman dead in the eye and gave a sinister smile behind her mask. "Ne, Mrs, he made a simple mistake. Don't you think abuse is a little too much?" The glare sent chills down the woman's spine. "Alright! We pooped this mission. On to the next one!" (Y/n) called before running off with Naruto, the other three following close behind.
