A/N sorry it's late, it didn't actually take me that long to write. But cosplays needed finishing plus a few extras
You buckled your harness into place, smoothing it down as you finished dressing. You turned to face Dire sat on the bed, looking at you with his head slightly tilted.
''You're not worried are you?''
He looked downwards.
You hummed, walking over to hug him, foreheads pressed together as you looked into his eyes.
''I'm not that weak you know?'' you smiled.
He let out a small whine.
''I'll be careful, I promise. But I swear you're just one big worrywart.''
Your wolf's tail give a slight wag.
''You could tell me everything I've forgotten and then some couldn't you,'' you sighed.
...
You missed the human emotion that flitted across his eyes.
You stepped back, rubbing at Dire's ears before going to pick up your sword. An almost depressingly plain looking claymore. All metal and simple black wrapped handle but always looking somewhat new, a beginners training sword to the naked eye. In reality, it was built specifically for your magic, a base for your power to build upon into what you used over a thousand years ago.
Though today it would just be a plain old sword.
You slotted it into the back loops of your harness, a comfortable weight barely pulling you back. It made you feel ready for the upcoming fight. Not that you was worried, if anything you was a little excited. Cor never really sparred with you, and fighting people was different to monsters.
You really hoped Gladio would be able to last longer than a few minutes.
You wasn't into minute men.
Giving yourself one last once over, you exited your room with Dire. You knew your class would already be waiting, after all you was purposely running a little late. It let you enjoy the halls being quiet for once as you fought up of a couple of strategies to handle Gladio. Nothing too fancy, you preferred to just roll with it most times. However you figured you go with a more powerful stance and clash rather then just gliding out of range and getting small but precise hits that would really down him in a few minutes if that.
''Oi, you're late. Did you really have to pretty yourself up,'' Nine grumbled loudly.
You had both classes here today and more then a few people agreed with him.
''Fashionably. One should always look good if they can; the more relaxed you look, the more likely you are to piss off your enemies.''
''But we aren't fighting people so I doubt it's something to prioritise. Not to be rude,'' Aqua said.
''For how much longer are you just going to be fighting monsters?'' you asked; throwing off your students.
''What do you mean exactly?'' Ace asked.
''Has it really not crossed your minds that humans themselves may have started this? We're the only race progressive enough to cause such a thing, the natural worlds balance wouldn't distort itself so easily. If you want to survive out there, you have to be aware you may end up fighting another person.''
''But for people to start this,'' the female Terra began.
''It's not a far fetched possibility,'' your sparring partner for today spoke for the first time since you arrived. ''All of us out there are aware of the possibility even if we haven't seen it yet. We are human, we were fighting wars between ourselves before this even happened.''
