Mars' PoV
"Marls," I hiss. She doesn't answer.
"Marlene." No response.
"Marlene Mckinnon." Finally, she brakes from her thoughts.
"Hmm?" She asks, tearing her eyes away to look at me.
"You're staring again."
"Oooo How bad?" She asks, worry etched in her face.
"You're drooling." I say dryly.
"Damn." She wipes her chin.
We walk out of class and head to the great hall for lunch.
"Don't worry, love," I say, "you can copy my transfiguration notes.
"You're a dear." She responds in a monotone.
"Who's a deer?" James asks from behind us.
"Certainly not you," Marlene says in the same tone.
I beg to differ." Chimes an all to familiar voice. "I think he's a right old deer." Sirius slung his arm around James' shoulder.
Marlene rolls her eyes.
"But your bias," she says. "You have to think that cuz he's your boyfriend."
Sirius pulls a face of mock hurt.
"Oh wow," he says, "throwing his hand over his heart. "I would never date some one like him." He points dramatically at James.
"I thought you loved me!" Shouts James, "what about us."
Marlene and I laugh and roll our eyes.
"Please," Sirius turns to James. "You're causing a scene."
"But you're my only love!" James shouts.
"This really doesn't help the rumours," I whisper to Marlene.
"God, guys," a voice huffs in annoyance, "you're causing a scene." Lily says, almost having been trampled by the two boys.
"Evans!" Says James, running a hand through his hair, shoving the other in his pocket. She looks at him oddly for a second.
"I know you love to broadcast your love life to the whole school," she says cooly, "but could you maybe do so more quietly, and with less trampling?"
"Sorry Evans," he says with a small laugh.
She gives him another look.
"Ah Lily," he says, she cocks an eyebrow, "lighten up love, walk with us to lunch." It wasn't really a question.
She looks at Marlene and me, our eyes tell her yes.
she sighs. "Okay."
But she smiles and jokes with us as walk down the hall.Sirius' PoV
"Mates, did you see that today?" James layes in his fourposter bed, grinning like a fool.
"We all saw, yes, bravo, you talked to Lily." I say absentmindedly, picking at a hole my jumper.
"We just about died from shock," Remus teases. "I mean Lily Evans talking to James Potter."
"she asked me about transfiguration," he said dreamily.
"coooool," I say as I yawn.
"Oh, is ickle paddy jealous?" James croons.
"No," I say bluntly. Not like that, I think to myself.
They all laugh.
"Come on padfoot." Peter says, "you could have any girl in the school." His round face encouraging.
"Yeah, so why choose James?" Remus says, not even looking up fom his book.
"Must almost be Moony's time of the month." James quipps back, knowing he is right.
"But really mate," says James, becoming all serious, "Any girl."
"Is that a challenge?" I ask, raising my eyebrows.
"I thought I had made that part clear." He winks.
"Okay, it's on."
"Girlfriend by the end of tomorrow." Remus smirks.
"Easy," I say cooly.
"Good luck," he says, his smirk still on his lips, his eyes haven't left the page.
"I think he can do it," Peter says.
"I mean look at him," James says.
"I'll need my beauty rest then, alright, sleep now all you lot." I fall asleep smiling into the dark, pleased with the challenge.
