Setting: Quidditch field-the stands; Gryffindor team try outs, Jemima's p.o.v.
I sit with Hermione and Romula in the stands to watch Harry and Ginny hold the Gryffindor team try outs, it was Harry's idea to have me come-to try and keep me away from Draco. I watch as no one pays attention to Harry:the team captain, accept for Ron, who's standing stiff as a board in comparison to the rest of the lot who're mucking about. It's Ginny who gets everyone to shut up and listen so Harry can talk; my eye stays glued on Ron as seventh year Cormac McLaggen approaches him...
"Howler," I start
"Hm?" She asks still eyeing the other team candidates
"What's Cormac saying to Ron?" I ask her
"McLaggen?" She asks now turning her attention to where her fellow seventh year and Ron are, "there talking about both going out for the keeper spot, no; what..." she says focusing harder, "uck!" She gags
"What?" I ask as I see Cormac walk away from Ron
"McLaggen is a massive womanizing playboy," Romula huffs in disgust, "he's even worse than Cedric or Sirius even was-"
"Get to the point Howler," I grown
"Point is, Feathers," she says, "he's made Hermione his next target and just asked Ron to introduce them."
"That prat!" I huff, "who did we ever let him in DA last year?!"
"We were more focused on preparing for war with no ones than getting into each other's pants," Romula says blandly, "he's also a complete and total show off."
Both Ron and Cormac mount their brooms and take positions in front of either goal posts at either end of the pitch; my eye observes my surroundings instead. I watch Lavender watching Ron-dam she's got it bad-if only he'd wake up and realize his feelings for Hermione, things would be so much simpler. Lavender is very loud in cheering on a nervous Ron as he manages to almost fall off his broom while blocking; mean while Cormac, being the show off Romula said he his, knocks the quaffle away from the hoop with complete confidence. I watch as Cormac's broom mysteriously moves out of the quaffle's way so it goes through the goal and he looks very confused. I turn in my seat and give Hermione a knowing smirk with a raised brow, her smile fades and her cheeks go red as she holds a finger to her lips and I just wink before turning back around, knowing fully well what she did.
Cormac still looks like a confused idiot as Ron manages to block the quaffle from going in again and Lavender cheers like the love struck dimwit she is. Thankfully the try outs soon end and I'm aloud to leave or at least that's what I was hoping, until Harry stops me...
"Jemi!" Harry calls as he comes running over to me
"..." I turn to him
"Where're you going?" He asks slightly out of breath
"Inside," I state as if it was obvious
"I thought we could train a bit for your team try outs," he says
"..." I stare blankly at him for a moment, till it clicks, "I said I was thinking about it Harry," I sigh, "not that I'm actually going to; I still don't understand how the game works and I wouldn't even know what position I'd wanna try out for."
"Then it's a great opportunity to learn," he says smiling, "and figure that out; I'll teach you."
"I don't even own a broom," I state flatly
"The school has plenty you can use till we buy you one," he says still smiling at me
"Ugh!" I groan, "you can't keep me away from him forever you know!" I snap, "we're in the same bloody house!"
