A POV
I smiled at Maxon's hands full with molded flour and egg shells. Of course the kitchen was one of his greatest weaknesses but Maxon always tried his best in everything. I was pretty sure that this competition was going to be our win.
"Who will be the judges?" Maxon asked.
"Hm? How about Kile, Eadlyn and Ahren?" I proposed.
"Isn't that too biased? It's two against one" Carter mentioned.
"Hm? Then how about Aspen, Lucy and Mary?" Marlee asked. "Aspen will be here in a few minutes for his round and I can call him to bring Lucy with her."
"Okay!" I cheered as Marlee and I walked towards the phone.
"Hello?" Aspen answered sounding tired.
"Oh? Aspen? It's America-"
"And Marlee" she yelled.
"Yes and when you come can you bring Lucy with you?"
"Lucy? Why?"
"Just bring her with you! Bye!" I hung up and returned to the boys.
"Okay, so here are the rules. You can choose any recipe but the time limit is" Carter stopped to look at his watch "45 minutes."
We all nodded and I headed to bring the aprons while the others washed their hands. I handed Marlee two and I put one on myself.
"Maxon? Can you help me tie my apron?" I asked.
Maxon smiled and started to tie the back when he hugged me from behind and gave me a kiss on the neck. "I'm sorry in advance."
I laughed. "Don't worry. We will do great."
Maxon sighed and nuzzled his nose in my neck. I guess ruining fourteen eggs could be tiring.
"Turn around let me put on your apron"
"But I already have an apron"
"You are not cooking with that" I said pointing at his dirty apron. I turned him around and untied the ribbon but before taking it off him I hugged him from the back and gave him a kiss on the neck. He was taller than me so my kiss landed on his upper back, but still it made him flinch in happiness.
"Okay love birds lets start!" Marlee cheered.
"Ten... five... three... two... one.. go!" Carter said and he took Marlee's hand to the other side of the kitchen.
"So what are we making wife?" Maxon asked.
"I don't know . What do you want to make?" I asked taking the cook book out of the shelve.
"I have a trauma about deserts so how about a meal. Like... chicken?" he asked putting a finger on his lips.
"Yes! This one" I said pointing at a recipe on the book. Maxon leaned closer and I huffed at his weight on my back.
"Are you sure? What the heck is a meat thermometer? And what are cherry tomatoes? How can a cherry be a tomato? And do you know how to turn on the oven?"
I laughed at his silliness, but his face told me he was dead serious. I knew deep down Maxon he really wanted to win this competition. "Don't worry. I meat thermometer is used to measure the meat's temperature. Cherry tomatoes are small tomatoes and yes I do know how to use an oven. Come on let's start."
I dragged Maxon to the kitchen table and started to get the tools. "So what do I do?" he asked.
"Can you bring garlic, chicken and cherry tomatoes from the fridge?" I asked preparing the frying pan, cutting board, knife and olive oil.
