You'll Never Walk Alone Again

"Hey Namjoon?" He looked up as Jin said his name. The older man sounded nervous. "Can I... uh... can I adopt you?" Jin's eyes were full of worry but also the desire to help and to care for him. Namjoon hesitated then hastened to explain when he saw disappointment cloud Jimin's beautiful face.

"I-no! No! I just don't know... I never expected this to happen! I never thought someone would actually want me..." he trailed off, realizing how sad that sounded. Jin's hand brushed softly along Namjoon's cheek.

"That's ridiculous... I want you to come with me more than anything. I-I need you in my life..." Jin let out a short chuckle, as if realizing how silly and cliché that sounded. "Trust me, I never thought this would happen either." Namjoon smiled at the human's cute awkwardness, then his mind was made up. He nodded once, blushing slightly.

"Yes Jin-hyung, I'd love to go with you. I want to be yours and for you to be mine." Jin smiled the brightest, happiest smile Namjoon thought he'd ever seen in his life, making Namjoon feel all warm inside. He didn't have time to dwell on the feeling though because Jin jumped to his feet, pulling Namjoon with him and hugged him into an embrace so tight that the air almost left his lungs.

"Thank you." The human said softly.
Namjoon squeezed back, just as happy. Then Jin took his hand and lead him out into the hall.

Outside Hoseok sat on a bench, playing with his phone while he waited. As the two emerged, his face split into a large, knowing smirk.

"Well, you two seem happy." He said, looking between Jin and Namjoon who's hands were still clasped together.

"Namjoon, this is one of my hosemates Hoseok. Hoseok, this is Namjoon. He'll be living with us from here on." Jin said. Hoseok practically squealed with delight.

"Haha!" He crowed. "Yoongi-hyung is gonna be so funny when he finds out!!" Jin gave him a gentle push.

"Yoongi is our other housemate. He's Hoseok's black panther hybrid. Or, well," Jin corrected himself. "It's more the other way around actually." Hoseok laughed at this and Namjoon smiled as they made their way back to the front counter. He was gonna enjoy living with these people.

Songjae was at the counter again, writing something on a sticky note. He beamed when he saw them.

"Looks like things went well then!!" Jin nodded.

"Yeah. I'd like to adopt Namjoon." Songjae turned to Namjoon.

"You're ok with this?" Namjoon nodded, blushing again. "Then we're all set!! I'll just need you to fill these out." he handed Jin a clipboard with several papers on it. "You can sit if you want. Bring them to me when you're done!"

Once the forms were filled out and both Jin and Namjoon had signed their consent, they brought the paperwork back to Songjae who bid them goodbye and good luck and they left the shelter. Hoseok insisted on driving so Jin and Namjoon could cuddle in the back seat. Before long Namjoon was asleep, head in Jin's lap. Jin smiled down at him fondly and combed his fingers through his dyed pink hair. His ears were like velvet but they were firm. They would swivel back and forth occasionally at any unexpected noise like they had minds of their own. The ride passed quickly and soon they were home. Jin patted Namjoon's shoulder softly and said,

"Namjoon! Joonie, time to wake up!We're home!!" Namjoon stirred and opened his eyes.

"Did you just call me Joonie?" Jin blushed.

"Is that ok??" Namjoon blinked.

"Uhh.. yeah. It's ok. You just caught me by surprise. My dad used to call me that before he died."

"Oh! I'm so sorry... I won't-"

"No, no!" Namjoon interrupted. "No it's a good memory. I like it when you call me Joonie." Jin relaxed, smiling.

"Ok then Joonie it is."
