You simply nodded.
"Common has better verbs, do you understand it?" He asked.
"Yes," you said with a sigh, glad to not fear saying a wrong word.
"Are you making the pilgrimage to Ouroborosss as well?"
"Yes." You answered on a whim again.
The lost city of Ouroboros! Of course, it existed as well, a legend as forgotten as the Serpentine. The Atlantis of the desert, and you were offered an opportunity to see it!
"Why are we just waiting? Shouldn't we be journeying across the sand?" You asked.
The Hypnobrai laughed, "Anxiouss, aren't you? There iss a buss coming to take uss."
The two went back to their conversation, giving you an opportunity to observe the other Serpentine present.
A Venomari, a Constrictai mother with two children, two Fangpyres who's waists were long tails drawn close to them, and of course the two Hypnobrai with you.
You were blending in with the Serpentine. It was equal parts terrifying and exciting.
Wait, no Anacondrai? You checked again. Perhaps it was coincidental. Or due to the fact that they were the Serpentine ruling class- probably above waiting in dark alleys for buses to lost cities.
Headlights rolled down the alley, a bus coming to a stop as one of the Fangpyres flagged it down.
You got on last, taking quick glances at every snake-like face and tail. You noticed some were wearing human clothes, and that was comforting.
You noticed one empty seat and sit against the window, one of the Hypnobrai taking up the aisle side. He talked to his friend most of the ride, the bus rolling out of the city and smoothly turning off the highway and onto the sand, rolling along a flat desert turned an eerie blue by the full moon.
The whole ride you snuck glances at each Serpentine on the bus, trying to not be caught staring.
Suddenly, there were several gasps. As the bus rolled around the last canyon leg a magnificent city came into view, white towers pale against the moon, ancient structures around a wall guarded by giant snake head statues.
The buildings even poured out of the city and into the sand, small figures moving around lights of every color. You inconspicuously lifted your camera over the lip of the window, glancing at the Hypnobrai the whole time, but his eyes stayed on the front.
The driver came over the loudspeaker and explained where to go for community housing or if you were interested in purchasing property. He also described what area each tribe was in- not mentioning the Anacondrai.
You could've thought on it more but you were distracted as the bus rolled onto the streets of the city and past the gates with doors taller than skyscrapers.
The bus entered the main square and all exited.
You watched it leave, "Do they allow you to leave when go to pick up more?" You asked.
"Yes, I went back so he wouldn't have to ride alone," He elbowed the other Hypnobrai, "Do you have friends here?" He looked at you again.
"Yes . . . I believe my den mother and sisters are with the main Hypnobrai group."
"Oh, you must be part of that old fashioned group if you still have a den mother. Do you want us to walk you there?"
"No, I may do some sightseeing."
"Alright, understandable, the city is beautiful. There's been no crime yet, either. We're all pretty much united because of what the humans have done."
