Walking down Highland Michael arrived at Hollywood
Blvd. There he seen so many people. So many strange
and exciting things. His eyes widened. His fear and
hunger forgotten for a moment. Michael looked at all
the stars on the sidewalk beneath his feet. He seen
the pictures in the windows. The t shirts and so many
little mementos. These things made him smile. This
must be the place they call Hollywood, with all the
stars. Michael was in awe. Walking around in the end-
less sea of people he was excited. Walking from one
end to another. Michael walked and walked until the
stars on the sidewalk were no more. Then he crossed
the street of Hollywood Blvd and walked again until
he got to Hollywood and Vine. Standing by the Pantages
theater for Michael was amazing. He really was happy.
Thinking I'm here mother. I'm here in Hollywood Calif-
ornia. The United States of America.
NIGHTFALL....
Michael was alone again or still depending on ones
perspective. He'd used the last of his money for
food a few hours ago so come morning he'd be right
back where he was this morning. Michael was lonely
and scared. He'd seen people walking hand and hand
holding each other. Kissing each other. Michael wanted
that too. But who would want him. He's too shy and
the women back home see money and looks, not the per-
son inside. The women here wouldn't want him because
he has no idea what they are saying to him or how to
communicate back with them. How can he tell the woman
he loves her when he can't even speak the language or
understand her. That's not a way to be. This made him
feel even worse if that were possible. Michael needed
to find a place to go. He needed to find a place to
sleep. Something. Walking into an alley not too far
from Hollywood and Vine, Michael pulled some boxes
apart that would make a shelter of sorts for the night.
This was something he'd never done before and had no
way of knowing if he was doing it right, but Michael
knew he had to try.
Curling up in a ball covered by his light jacket.
Michael Jackson from Croanan fell asleep under the
nightime skies of Hollywood, California USA.
IN CROANAN....
Katherine cried. She was worried for her son Michael.
Michael was to be gone only four days. It was now going
on thirteen days. She'd called her countries state depart-
ment and was told that until the United States of America
accepted the new Regime there was nothing they could do.
The governments are in talks but they had no idea how
long these talks could take. Katherine was so scared.
Her friends tried to comfort her. With all that their
own government was going through everything was so un-
certain. "Cough. Cough." "Santa Catalina vi tuccherà
à u riposu." (Katherine you need to rest.) "INNÒ! Not
finu à u mo figliolu, u mio Michael hè in casa è in u
mio vrazza! Nun ti pozzu chiù!" (NO! Not until my son,
my Michael is home and in my arms! I can not!)
Michael awoke the next morning to someone pulling
on his clothes and his bag. "There we are. A nice
find I think Pete!" "Yeah this bum don't need it."
The men laugh. "Hey! Hè a meia! Lasciami tranquillu!
Pirchì mi duna fastidiu? Rubari mio cose? M'anu fattu
nunda à voi! Vai ti ne!" (Hey! That's mine! Leave me
alone! Why you bothering me? Stealing my things? I've
done nothing to you! Go away!) Michael says fully awake
now. "Hey guys listen to this! He talks funny. This
bum talks funny!" "He does? Well funny man talk funny
for me too!!" "Hey! For all of us!" "Yeah! Let's take
what we want! What's he gonna do? Can't even under-
stand us anyway! The police won't ever be able to
finger us!" The men laugh. They all started to beat
and fight with Michael. Michael fought hard and was
trying to hang on to his things. A car pulled through
the alley and the men took off. They left Michael
there in a heap crying. He was beaten, bloodied and
oh so scared and humiliated.
