I heard the distant noises of the crowd in the large ballroom, and knowing my parents were in there in person was just making me more anxious. I was about to pull a stunt I would most likely get scolded for but when life gives you lemons you make lemonade. My kwami was looking at me with an amused expression while I straightened my black Argentine cocktail cut out dress. Black wasn't my color but in dire situations, this would have to do. I straightened my black mask that was decorated in matching feathers and sequins. I made sure my now curly, long, brown hair was let loose and swiftly slipped a pair of my mother's onyx heels. Long story short, the entertainment was not hear yet and so I would have to put a show on. To be honest it wouldn't be hard, the only thing that was stopping me was the vision of my parents disappointing looks, the speech I would have to sit through, and the false apologies I would have to deliver. How I did this was an interesting story starting from here:

I was carefully putting on my purple dress A-line dress so that I wouldn't destroy my hair. I was forced to dye It back to brown and add extensions to it a couple of hours ago so that I would look like a "refined young lady" as my father called it. Once I was ready I slipped past my parents who arguing away. From what I heard they were talking about some dancers being late, but that was none of my concern. I slipped into the noisy ballroom filled with worldly icons as I scanned the room with my eyes. they stopped when I saw a table full of my peers and a blonde headed boy that stood out from the rest.

"Adrien!" I yelled over the crowd.

He turned around and a wide smile split across his face. "Hey Maia!" He yelled back.

I swiftly weaved in and out of the crowd until I stopped at the table.

"Hey do you know if there's going to be any acts playing tonight because it seems odd that you don't" He asked.

"Now that you mention it, I heard my parents speaking about some dancers being late." I responded.

An excited grin slowly grew on my face. "What are you planning?" He questioned with a confused look on his face.

"I can be the entertainment, I mean who wouldn't want to watch me?" I said while flipping my brown locks.

"In all seriousness though, I need you to play piano and I need a partner. That is... If you're ok with a potential scolding..." I added with a thoughtful expression painted on my face.

"I honestly don't care, and it's not like I don't get scolded on a daily basis whether its Natalie or my father. As for a partner... how about Noah?" Adrien replied.

"Hmm maybe... Hey Noah can you come here?" I said while urging him over. The poor boy had no idea what he was getting himself into.

Time skip to now, that is how I am in this situation.

I heard a familiar spanish song with a fast tempo playing on the piano and I took it as my queue to swiftly move across the stage while my partner was doing the same from the opposite side. We met up at the center as he spun me like a top. We both danced in sync and at the right beat. At that moment I did not care about any consequences I would face later. Right now I was having fun, which was something I don't usually experience due to my dull and boring life. Before we knew it, the music stopped and all three of us, (Adrien, Noah, and I) carefully left the stage. We met the actual dancers who were supposed to be in our places an hour ago and briefly greeted them. We proceeded to go down the steps. I subconsciously turned my head to see both of my parents beaming at me, but they soon returned to their conversation, most likely with potential business partners.

"Thanks for playing a role in my shenanigans" I said shyly to Noah.

"No problem, anyways I think I'm speaking for the both of us when I say that is the most fun I've had in a long time" He replied with a crooked smile.

I laughed and replied, "Yes, oh the life of a rich kid..." I then sighed.

"Well I don't see a reason for you to change out of your costume if we're going to keep dancing..." He started while smirking.

I returned the smirk while saying, "Well then what's the hold-up?"

Success is on the other side of your comfort zone.
