Skye pushed Ace away even though a part of her wanted to hold on to him and never let him slip between her fingers ever again. His warm hands fell from her body and she suddenly felt coldness over take her. She crossed her arms over her exposed chest in an effort to cover herself, but she realized the chill ran deep, through her skin and maybe even into her soul.
She stared at him with a blank look. There were so many emotions swimming around her head, she had to sit down.
“What are you doing here?” she asked, searching the room with her eyes for her bra.
Ace walked over to her with that sexy smirk he wore so well. He placed his hands on her shoulders and stared into her eyes. Those eyes. Those beautiful, ocean colored eyes could see right through her.
“I came for you,” he said in his deep, seductive voice.
“You came all the way to Cuba for me?! You don’t even fucking know me,” she said, growing angry all of a sudden.
Where did this anger come from? Why did she want to rip him apart right now?
Skye shook her head; she could feel tears sprouting in her eyes again. She spotted Ace’s light blue dress shirt near the dresser and quickly went to retrieve it, trying to get away from his penetrating stare.
She could feel his eyes roam the naked skin of her tattooed back as she slipped on his shirt.
“Yeah I do,” he said confidently.
Skye suddenly felt nauseated. She had already come to terms with her own ruined life, but she couldn’t bear the guilt of ruining someone else’s life. Especially since it was Ace’s.
“No you don’t. We slept together once and suddenly you think you can come to Cuba and be my fucking hero?!” she yelled aimlessly.
She buttoned his shirt up, trying to hide herself from him. Skye turned around to find him staring at her with a look of open admiration.
“Stop.. looking at me like that,” she said exasperatedly, throwing her arms up in the air for help.
“Like what?” he said, standing up. But even as he said it, he couldn’t get the image of her tanned, naked body moving in sync with his, out of his head.
Skye couldn’t help but stare at his sculpted torso. Every muscle was so defined, so perfect.
She tore her eyes away reluctantly.
Ace came closer to her, so he was standing no more than a few inches away from her.
His natural outdoor odor enveloped her body. She felt the heat radiating off him and she suddenly found it so hard to think with him this close.
“I know for a fact you’re just as crazy about me as I am about you,” he whispered teasingly.
She shook her head and pushed him away.
“You’re just crazy,” Skye replied. She couldn’t help but smile at the look of mock hurt that spread on his features.
Ace brushed her dark waves with one hand before resting it against her neck. He pulled her closer so there was no room between them. His other hand landed on her waist, so she couldn’t escape…not that she wanted to.
“I don’t think you understand how much I want you,” he said huskily.
Suddenly, Skye understood.
She moved her head back a little and stared at him directly into his piercing eyes.
“That’s the thing. You don’t need me. You want me,” she deadpanned.
