Misunderstood ?

I woke up from my unexpected slumber with a piercing headache I sat properly on the hard bed then I realized that I'm at the clinic I couldn't remember anything. How I got here and who brought me is just a blur

I looked around and it seemed empty it was quiet and it was dark . I got up from the bed as a noticed a rose from outside the window it seemed so bright and calling whilst the others flowers looked darker and so distant. I opened the window and sat on the window seal the clinic was only one story high so I wasn't afraid of falling

Reaching out I snapped the rose off its stem and placed it under my nose , closing my eyes with every whiff  "You don't strike me as a rose person" Shane said walking in with his hands in his pockets I snapped my head back and shrugged continuing my actions. He climbed out the window and sat next to me on the window seal , "Your purple is fading" he said taking a curly strand of hair in between his fingers and pulling it slightly , I watched him attentively as he pulled back on my hair letting go of my hair he sighed and then turned to face me

"I'm fine okay and I don't need anyone else asking me" I said rolling my eyes I knew exactly what he was going to ask and to be honest I'm not ready to even attempt to answer that question

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to strike a nerve" he said trying to lighten the mood , "Seems like I'm striking everyone's mood" he rolled up his sleeves and brushed against something resembling a big bruise

"What happened" I said looking at his arm

"Leo happened" he said letting out a quiet chuckle

"Figures" I said rolling my eyes

"He wasn't always like this you know" he said looking into the distance as if remembering some distant memory , "He was a happy kid naughty very naughty but happy we both we're but I guess things change"

"Seems like you and Leo go way back" I said shifting my body so I could face him

"You have no idea"

"Then enlighten me"

"Me and Leo go way back as I said we were like the three musketeers but I'll get to that in a minute" he sighed and looked into his hands ,"We were called the trouble makers because well it's all in the name we made trouble" he chuckled and shook his head

"One day Leo and I were playing basketball when our friend Jace came to us , he was one crazy one crazier that me and Leo combined anyway he came and told us about buying and selling some goods to earn some extra cash I hesitated but Leonardo didn't he jumped in because well things weren't going so well at home" I started at Shane wondering if this was the reason why Leonardo was the way he was ,"Anyway I agreed after they persuaded me they were damn good so I couldn't have said no , things were going good we had earned a lot of money but Jace got greedier he wanted more so he started buying and selling drugs it was too risky Leonardo and I didn't approve so we stopped selling altogether"

"Something tells me this story doesn't isn't going to end well" I said and he nodded his head without looking at me

"Jace didn't like what we did so he framed the drugs with us and the drug lord Rameriez wasn't having any of it he killed Leonardo's grandparents right in front of him they were the only family of his and he killed my sister" he wiped away a tear that fell down his cheek then shook his head

"Long story short we lost our families and ended on the street an orphanage took us in but then soon sent us here"

"Wow" I breathed and wiped away his tears

"I'm fine it's fine it's life" I pulled away and looked down at my flower

"What happened to Jace"

"He died , he ran away , his in jail , his in a mental institution" he sighed again, "I don't know but if I see him I swear he'll pay"

"An eye for a eye never helped anyone"

"What about you I told you my story now it's your turn" he said completely acting different as if he never told me anything about his past

"There's no story to tell" I said placing my flower in my hair and heading in through the window and sitting on my bed

"Everyone has a story" he said coming in and sitting on a chair near the window

"Well I'm not everyone I'm Nevaeh" I rolled my eyes I was starting to get annoyed now

"I know that but your mysterious and I'm curious"

"Haha funny goodnight" I said pulling my blanket over my head

"Nevaeh" he breathed

"Get out Shane there's nothing I'm going to tell you because there's nothing to tell now stop being noisy and stay the hell away from my business" I said I wasn't looking at him but I could tell he was surprised and somewhat hurt

"I'm sorry I won't ask again goodnight" he said standing up and leaving the room

I pulled down my blanket and rolled on my back looking up at the clinic ceiling , it's weird I've been here for a while and I still don't know why I'm here but something deep inside me tells that it has something to do with Leonardo I don't know why and I don't know how......it's funny I've learnt so much about Leonardo without speaking to him , me and him have a similar case , we both lost those we care about and that turned us into the mean , cruel, cold heartless people we are
