Chapter 25: Changes

(Y/n) walked down the street as she tightened her long black headband around her forehead. Soon, she noticed a familiar figure. Tall, silver hair, and laid back...

"Papa!" she called out as she ran towards the man. He turned around with a smile as he recognized the voice. "Huh...?!" his eyes widened as he looked at his daughter.

She wore a new headband with the signature green vest of the village.

"Y-You were promoted to chuunin?" he asked in surprise, only to receive a shake of the head from the girl.

"I was promoted to jounin!" she exclaimed with a giant smile behind her mask. Kakashi laughed as he pulled the girl into a tight hug. "Now you are two steps closer to becoming the best kunoichi," he chuckled as he let go. "How about later today we go celebrate? We'll go to your favorite dango shop," he ruffled her hair. "You mean it!?" her face lit up as she nearly bounced around from excitement. "Then, I'll see you back at home!!" she said before running off towards the hospital, waving goodbye to her father.

"Hello? Sasuke?" (Y/n) called as she entered the room, only to be met by silence. She walked to the end of the room, seeing Sasuke staring out of the window with blank eyes. "Oh dear... Sasuke you look awful," the girl noticed his pale complexion and the dark circles under his eyes. His lifeless eyes looked at the girl as she sat next to him. "What are you wearing.... You look ridiculous..." he said as he noticed the green vest that clashed with her orange and navy clothing. "I was promoted to jounin... I don't like the vest either but there's nothing I can do," she chuckled as she lifted the back of his shirt while Sasuke's eyes slightly grew wide. "Jounin...?" he asked as both of the girl's hand's glowed a bright green as she began his treatment. "Heh... yeah I don't get it either," (Y/n) chuckled.

"Sakura-chan!!" Naruto's voice echoed down the hall. Sasuke quickly tensed up as he gritted his teeth. "Sasuke! I brought you some apples!" Sakura's loud voice said as she approached the Uchiha. "Hey, (Y/n)... What are you wearing?" Naruto looked at the vest. "I was promoted to jounin," she said as her features beamed. "Jounin?! You're so awesome, sis!!" Naruto exclaimed. "You? Jounin...? Yeah right," Sakura scoffed as she pulled an apple out of the paper bag. "You're just mad because there was no chance of you even being considered to be a chuunin," she retorted. Sakura puffed her cheeks as she pouted not being able to come up with a comeback. Quickly, the pinkette remained silent as Naruto and (Y/n) rambled on about their favorite foods.

Soon, the thoughts that (Y/n) had distracted him from before, flooded his mind.

His encounter with Itachi...

Sakura began to peel an apple as Naruto teased her about being flustered around Sasuke. The Uchiha's eyebrow twitched in anger and the blonde's voice echoed louder and louder in his mind.

"Here! I peeled the apple so it's easier to eat!" the pinkette held an apple slice up to her teammate.

As if something went off inside Sasuke, his calm and cool attitude left. He smacked the apple and plate out of the girl's hand, making the ceramic plate shatter on the wooden floor.

"H-Hey! What's wrong with you?!" Naruto exclaimed as (Y/n) pulled a frightened Sakura out of the way. "Hey... Naruto... Fight me... Right now!" Sasuke glared at the blonde. "Oi, Uchiha! What the hell is going on with you?!" the Hatake exclaimed as she stood in front of Sakura. "What the hell are you talking about?" Naruto began to grow angry as he stared at his teammate. Sasuke jumped out of his bed as he activated his sharingan. "You said you wanted to fight me, right? I say we do it now... Or have you chickened out?" A sinister smile grew on his face. "S-Sasuke, what's gotten into you?! Naruto... You say something too!" Sakura yelled as (Y/n) extended her hand, preventing her from going forward. "This is perfect... I was just thinking of fighting you too..." Naruto smirked in confidence. "Then... follow me..." Sasuke spoke in a serious and stern manner as he and Naruto walked out of the room.
