I quickly grabbed my phone out of my pocket and called the only person I knew that could stop Brady.

"Ah, so you-"

"I need your help!" I cried, tears streaming down my face.

"Michael, please!" I screamed into the phone.

*

"Where are you?"

"Rooftop." I replied before hanging up.

Brady snickered as he watched Drew cry and shake in fear.

"Brady.. please." I had decided to try and talk him out of hurting Drew.

"Why are you defending him?" He looked at me in disgust as he looked back at Drew giving him a glare.

"Because he's my friend. He's so kind and selfless and I couldn't ask for a better friend." I spoke softly as I got off the ground, slowly walking over to Brady.

"What did he do to deserve this?" I questioned back.

"He's a worthless piece of shit." Brady spat at Drew.

"Brady, why are you so mean to him?" I tried my best to speak normally without my voice cracking from my crying, but it happened anyway.

"Are you kidding me? I thought I just told you why." His voice got harsh as he turned towards me.

I walked very slowly over to Brady, trying my best to stay calm and stop crying.

"Please stop." I whispered to him.

"You must be as worthless as he is." And before I knew it Brady had slapped me on the same cheek and I ended up back on the ground.

"Hey!" I turned towards the yell and saw Michael, his angry expression kinda frightened me.

Michael quickly walked over to Brady and punched him hard enough to knock him to the ground.

"What makes you think you get to physically hurt a girl?"

Michael picked Brady back up but only to punch him once again.

I quickly got up from the ground and ran towards Drew who was curled up into a ball for protection.

"It's okay.. he can't hurt you right now." I spoke softly into Drew's ear as I brushed my fingers through his hair, listening to his soft sobs.

"Drew," I whispered softly to him.

"You're safe." He slowly lifted up his head from his lap and looked nowhere but to me.

"Addie," his voice was quiet as it cracked from his sobs.

"It's okay." I pulled him into a hug as he cried.

How could someone hurt someone as precious as Drew?

How could they intentionally hurt him when he's so kind and selfless?

"Drew, it'll be okay." I whispered as I stroked the back of his head.

"Addie, are you okay?" Michael ran to me worriedly after he had done his work with Brady.

"I'm okay." My voice cracked.

"I-I came here to help Drew but I couldn't do anything.." my voice was quiet as I spoke through my sobs.

"I ended up doing the exact opposite.."

"It's okay, I'm here." He gave me a reassuring smile as he watched my sad expression.

"You are." I tried my best to smile back at him as I comforted Drew.

Michael glanced at Drew but he quickly looked back at me. Michael just sat there with us for awhile. We probably missed at least two classes by now, but I didn't care.

*

"Thank you for coming." I spoke quietly since Drew was now asleep with his head on my lap.

He nodded at me and went back to staring at how I was still playing with Drew's hair even though he was asleep.

"Addie, why did you call me?" He asked as he turned to look at me.

"Because you were the only one I knew who could help me." I muttered quietly as I watched Drew who was sleeping soundly in my lap.

There was a long silence, but it was a comfortable one. Just peace and quiet. No fighting, no crying, no yelling, no talking, just quiet.

"Addie, what was going on up here?" He questioned as he turned his gaze to me. His eyes flickered to Drew and back up to me.

"Drew had called me saying he needed help. That's why I ran from you on the sidewalk."

"But I was no help.. I couldn't even get to him.." I sigh heavily at he thought of not being able to help Drew.

"Did he hurt you really bad?"

"No, I don't think so." I muttered.

"But Drew.." I trailed off.

I pulled up Drew's shirt to reveal him stomach which was filled with huge bruises.

"He wouldn't stop." My voice cracked.

I put Drew's shirt back down and continued to brush my fingers through his hair, trying to comfort him as he slept.

Michael said nothing. He watched me as I ran my fingers through Drew's hair, slight jealousy in his eyes.

"I hope he's okay." I muttered under my breath.

"He doesn't deserve this.." I mumbled as I looked nowhere but Drew who was sleeping soundly.

"Neither did you." Michael spoke.

"I'm not the one who was being hurt." I replied in monotone.

"But you were hurt."

"Yeah, but, Drew.. look at him." I spoke softer as I gestured to Drew.

"Addie, it's not your fault." Michael reassured me.

"It is. He called me for help and look, he still got hurt even with me there to witness it all."

"How could someone try to hurt him?" My voice cracking as I spoke.

"Because some people hurt others to feel better." Michael spoke softly to me as he tried to comfort me.

"But Drew.. why him?"

"Brady chose him." Michael replied with a sad tone.

"I can't today.. I can't do school." I sigh.

"I'm probably just going to bring Drew to my house and we'll stay there today."

Michael eyes flashed with a hint of jealousy as he began to speak.

"I could stay with you guys." He suggested.

"No, you've done enough today." I smiled at him.

"You should do school." I spoke.

"We've already missed most of the classes. I might as well go with you."

"Okay."
