PROLOGUE
"Come on, Gwen."
"No." I shake my head.
Peter stands two steps below me with one foot on his skateboard so we are at eye level. He gestures to the empty space on his skateboard again. No way in hell am I getting on that skateboard.
"I'll catch you if you fall."
I roll my eyes, "Did you really just say that? I don't think my ears heard correctly over the sound of your stupid idea."
He grins and resist the burgeoning urge to smile at him.
I walk down the last few remaining steps and stand right in front of him.
"I love you, but there is no way I'm riding something that could contribute to my already crap coordination." I kiss his cheek and walk off in the direction of my home.
"Don't you trust me?" I hear Peter call when I reach the end of the road.
I turn around and he's smiling. I shrug my shoulders, giving him what I hope to be a smirk and head home.
