Unexpectedly Yours

The Introduction:

Well, this is awkward, but um.... hi. My name is Rachel Daniels, and I have a crush.

Damn, I sound like I'm in an intervention... but anyway, yes I proudly admit that I've had a crush on this "bad boy" for almost 4 years. His name is Manny, and he is just... wow. Like ... *cough* wow. Did I mention he's... wow?

I've liked this guy since freshman year... and I'm almost a senior now.

I sound pretty pathetic but I just can't stop thinking about him with his cool biker jacket... and his motorcycle he drives to school with every day... and his dark and soft hair with those dreamy brown eyes... *coughs* uhm, but anyways!-

My best friend, Christina, has tried everything she can to help me get over my addiction with Manny, but who can ignore a super hot bad boy who you have almost every class with?! Pretty much mission impossible in my case.

I still have some hope, even though I'm fully aware that Manny has a girlfriend and doesn't know I exist. He did get my name wrong once after all.

"Hey, Michelle.. right?" Manny asked.

"Uhh... yea, the name's Michelle!" Rachel replied, hesitantly.

"That's a pretty name, but I was just wondering what the teacher •••"

I was so surprised that I didn't even pay attention to what he had to say! I still can't believe he talked to me and thought my name was pretty?!

In the end I didn't want to correct him, I was just grateful that he was speaking to me at all. I'm still disappointed that he didn't get my name right though. I don't even look like a Michelle. Right...?

Well, whatever. Not that many people care about remembering my name anyway. I barely talk to my classmates, and if I do it's because we're partners for a project or they're trying to copy my homework, because obviously, what else are you going to say to a nerd?

High school is honestly good in my opinion, just not the people. I envy anyone who doesn't/didn't have to deal with getting bullied.

Let's just say... Manny's girlfriend Bianca Tutman (aka, the devil spawn) just LOVES to ruin my life.

She knows I have a crush on Manny, and still to this day is blackmailing me into doing all her homework so she won't tell Manny that I have a crush on him.

It becomes extremely stressful when I have to finish my own homework on time as well, but that's just one of the thousands of things the devil spawn has done to me, just during high school.

I know I should defend myself, but my best friend Christy already deals with all the assholes in the school that bully me. (Often per Bianca's request of course).

"You guys, look, it's Rachel DUMPniels, HAHAHA!!!!"

"Yo nerd, why are you in the cafeteria anyways? Don't you have Bianca's homework to do? After all, it's all you're good at.. twig. AHAAH PFFFT-"

He couldn't get another word out, since Christina finally shut him up and landed a punch. Everyone in the formerly loud cafeteria went silent when they heard the sheer intensity of the punch.

As Christina shrugged off the pain from her hand, she finally cleared the silence.

"If she's a twig, then you must be a fucking splinter, or I wouldn't have been able to kick your ass just now. Either way, be careful with who you mess with, because you might not be as lucky next time."

Christina then turns to Rachel, makes sure she's okay, and they walk out of the cafeteria together without saying another word.

"You didn't have to do that you know.. you could've gotten hurt stupid!" Rachel said worryingly.

"Don't sweat it buddy! I'm alright." Christina replied cheerfully, reassuring her friend.

Unlike me, Christy is fearless enough to fight my battles, and without her, I'd probably have countless broken bones and bruises by now.

I'd like to say I don't need her help and that I'm strong, but I'm really not. I'm amazingly good at hiding my emotions though. Fortunately, Christy is the only person that can somehow see through that facade and really understand me.

Sure I get straight A's and the work is easy, but everything else about school, especially dealing with bullies, definitely isn't. At all.

At least I still have 1 more day of summer break until school starts again... and then my nightmare continues like always.

Honestly... fuck bullies.

The Last Day of Summer:

Rachel wakes up, immediately regretting opening her tired eyes. The first day of school seemed so far away before, but now it's suddenly so inevitable.

"I wish I hadn't woken up today, I can't fucking believe summer is almost over?! What the hell..." Mumbled Rachel, frustrated with reality.

As dreadful as tomorrow will be, she gets a text from Christy that brightens up her morning:

"Hey, do you wanna do something today?"

"Heck YEA I wanna do something today!" Rachel replied.

She hasn't texted Christy since last night. (They were sharing stupid cat memes all night... like always).

"Cool! Wanna go to the movies? I heard there's a new Deadpool movie that just came out." Christy suggested.

Rachel replied so fast, I'm pretty sure both of her thumbs were going over the highway/freeway speed limit.

"Oooh, yea I definitely wanna see that! I love Deadpool! He's basically a meme breaking the 4th wall."

(Did I mention Rachel and Christina are total comic book/superhero nerds?)

"Hell yea dude! I'll pick you up at 5."

"Ok, see ya then loser!"
